Structet (KABK - ArtScience) [EU]

Structet 2 – Building Music *Xclusive programme

Friday 21:00 - 21:45

Atrium City Hall

Structet is a fluctuating formation constisting of 52 visual and sonic improvisers from the ArtScience Interfaculty and other departments of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. This group will reform in september 2010 to develop and perform the sequel to their performance at TodaysArt in 2006.

In the Atrium of the The Hague Town Hall they will present a monumental, architectonic vertical matrix of improvised electronic music and projections. An army of hidden musicians on laptops and custom built instruments will form an electronic orchestra that will be performing on seven floors. A ‘conductor’ behind a mixing board for both image and sound will transform the different inputs into one single piece of music and projections.

Structet adapts itself to the building or spatial structure where it performs, with a preference for the vertical dimension. The structure of the improvisation is based on a study of the proportions, scale, colour, history and function of the location of the performance. This performance will be based on a study of architecture of the Town Hall by Richard Meier.

ADOPT stands for A Dialysis patient Outreach Programme for kidney Transplantation. It is an initiative to educate patients undergoing dialysis and their immediate families on kidney transplantation which is the preferred option of renal replacement therapy (RRT) apart from haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Our approach is optimise resources through concerted and consolidate effort by various stakeholders to promote transplantation. We do not force people to donate organ (which is unethical) but rather to empower patients and families with relevant information as to enable them to make an informed decision.

This effort is an initiative by Transplantation Unit, Ministry of Health Malaysia with Novartis Corporation (unconditional support), Malaysian Society of Nephrology and National Kidney Foundation. Clinical consultant for this project in Dr Rafidah Dato' Abdullah, Consultant Nephrologist / Head of Medical Department Hospital Temerloh and advisor is Datuk Dr Ghazali Ahmad, Head of Nephrology Service for the Ministry of Health.

We sacrifice half day of our Sunday to be with these patients, serving the nation!... Semangat kemerdekaan, well done everyone!...
