The London East Asia Film Festival's programme launch was held at Electric Cinema in Notting Hill on 12th September.
We are incredibly excited to have announced our programme. The Fortress is being screened as our Opening Gala at Odeon Leicester Square as an international premiere. We are thrilled to say that there will be a Q+A with Director Hwang Dong-hyuk and Actor Lee Byung-hun! Our Closing Gala, Outrage Coda, directed by Takeshi Kitano is a must see, action-packed film which we are honoured to be screening at our festival this year. LEAFF’s Festival Director, Hyejung Jeon, gave an inspiring speech at the beginning of our press launch to start out festival season off with a bang.

I recently got the job of scanning a batch of football programmes, magazines and comics for sale on www.ebay.co.uk under the seller name of the_genies_cave. I thought that they might have a wider interest. Further, I discovered a Flickr group dedicated to them!

In addition, CSOs were invited to submit proposals for the organisation of discussion panels dedicated to issues of specific interest to the Caucasus region and stakeholders in the EBRD.
Programme for the play 'Pools Paradise', by Armitage Owen, being staged by touring repertory company The Queen's Players at the Hippodrome and Queen's Theatre in Keighley for one week from Monday 10th August 1953.
Players in the company included Joan Battersby, Jacqueline Hales, Doanld King, Pat Lynch, Marjorie Mitchell, Kay Newman, Patricia Sanders, Arnold Sutcliffe, and George Woolley. The play was produced by Arnold Sutcliffe. Linda Dale accompanied proceedings on the piano.
The programme also includes adverts for the Regal Milk Bar (proprietor J. W. Dutton) on North Street; Lawkholme Taxis; Ernest P. Angus Ltd. (Austin dealer) of Granby Garage, Riddlesden; Shackleton and Sagar's Minerals from Spring Bank in Ingrow; the cocktail bar of the Victoria Hotel on Cavendish Street; Autowrex Bfd of Bradford; A. Lord & Co. (modern furnishers) with showrooms on High Street; Jack Hey (joiner and undertaker) of Albert Yard off Bridge Street; Fred Smith (fish, poultry, vegtables and fruit) of Church Street; John W. (fireplace specialists) of North Street; Timothy Taylor's Prize Ales ("for men of the North"); Central Taxis of Bow Street; Harry Stowell (plumber and sanitary engineer) of Bradford Road, Riddlesden; Hammonds United Breweries Ltd.; and Windser Pottery (H. Brearley and Sons) of North Street.
The 1950s was a turbulent decade in the history of the Hippodrome and Queen's Theatre in Keighley. Long-time Managing Director Francis Laidler (who also owned the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford) died in 1955 and was succeeded by his widow Gwladys. Television was providing a significant challenge to theatre-going by the middle of the decade, and the Hippodrome had to try more extreme forms of entertainment to draw in the crowds. But to no avail, and the theatre finally closed its doors in 1956, before being demolished in 1961 to make way for the new town centre's multi-storey car park.
The item was donated to Keighley and District Local History Society by Tim Neal in 2022. It is held in the History Society's physical archive.

C’est le premier ouvrage d’Art commandé par le Ministère de l’Equipement dans le programme écologique du Japon.
Les études sont réalisées en étroite collaboration avec les ingénieurs. L’apport de l’Art et la volonté d’humaniser l’espace en font une merveilleuse sculpture dans un écrin de verdure.
Le soleil, des vagues et des rochers sont mis en scène sur le barrage dans une sculpture en bas-relief de 120 m de long et 16 m de haut et de 250 tonnes. Le soleil fait 7 tonnes, il est posé à 16 m de haut.
La sculpture “Rivière” en granit bleu de 22 tonnes est gravée de son idéogramme, et de l’autre “le banc de l’amitié” de 12 tonnes est en granit noir, il est constitué d’assises et d’une plate-forme.
L’entrée du parc est signalée par un ensemble de sculptures en granit rose de Bretagne

Pink and blue granite from Brittany, and granite from India. Clolus quarries of Lanhélin and Gem Granite of Madras in India.
It is the first work of Art commissioned by the Ministry of Public Works in the ecological program of Japan.
The studies are carried out in close collaboration with the engineers. The contribution of Art and the will to humanize the space make it a marvellous sculpture in a green setting.
The sun, waves and rocks are staged on the dam in a bas-relief sculpture 120 m long and 16 m high and weighing 250 tons. The sun weighs 7 tons and is 16 m high.
The sculpture "River" in blue granite of 22 tons is engraved with its ideogram, and on the other "the friendship bench" of 12 tons is in black granite, it is made of seats and a platform.
The entrance to the park is marked by a group of sculptures in pink granite from Brittany.

La rivière laissera transiter les poissons et la nature sera rehaussée d’une grandiose intégration de sculptures monumentales en granit de Tetsuo HARADA. “le Tricot de la Terre” s’enrichit de sculptures bas-relief, de lieux de rencontres au pied du barrage et de symboles repères. Pas moins de 270 tonnes de granit méticuleusement sculpté sont un écrin de beauté au paysage s’harmonisant au gré des saisons et du temps qui passe.
NATIONAL ECOLOGY PROGRAMME
In the cultural park of Tazawako, a seaside town and ski resort, the Ministry of Equipment is building a huge dam (120 m long and 16 m high) to retain the mud and stones of the tumultuous volcano Komagatake. Engineers and HARADA are developing the "Tazawako Cultural Park". The river will let the fish pass through and nature will be enhanced by a grandiose integration of monumental granite sculptures by Tetsuo HARADA. The "Knitting of the Earth" will be enriched with bas-relief sculptures, meeting places at the foot of the dam and landmark symbols. No less than 270 tons of meticulously sculpted granite are a showcase of beauty with a landscape that harmonizes with the seasons and the passage of time.

Managed to get my programme for the Dunfermline match autographed by most of the 20 man squad. A joint programme was produced for both of the friendlies that Dunfermline played that week, hence the Forest squad being featured - with Junior Agogo at the top of thier team list.

This is a photograph from the Leinster Cross Country Championships which was held at Moyvalley Hotel and Golf Estate at Balyna Estate, Moyvalley, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Sunday 25th October 2015 begining at 11:00 until the final race at 14:20. The programme for today included Boys and Girls even ages, Junior male and female, Novice male and female and Masters male and female. The races were run on a superb course beside the Moyvalley hotel where the vast acres of prime farmland provided a large space to have a fair but challenging course on good firm ground.
The Leinster event was hosted by local club Na Fianna from Co. Meath. However the venue was actually just inside Co. Kildare in a part of the county where Meath and Kildare borders intersect several times along the route of the old N4/N6 road. The luxury Moyvalley Hotel & Golf resort is set amidst 550 acres of historic Kildare countryside and is easily accessed from the M6/M4 at Enfield or Kinnegad.

Balyna Estate where the races were held can trace its history back to the 1500s. More recently the estate was owned by the Bewley Family of the Bewley Cafe fame. The hotel and resort were taken over by new management in 2014 who are implementing big plans to expand Moyvalley further.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. Manufactured and donated by Shaantech KEPZ Karachi gifted to 500 families of Bhako, Kharoro and Vekasar Villages. These villages are only couple of miles from the India border, Nagarparkar area of Thar desert. Majority of people are Hindus. No roads into these villages. We had to use 4-Wheel Drive UNDP vehicles.

A Happy Christmas 2024 to all my Flickr friends.
The 1931 programme of festivities held at the then relatively new Grosvenor House Hotel that had opened, on the site of the original Grosvenor House on Park Lane, in 1929. It was to become one of London's premier hotels. As can be seen from the folding leaflet scenes of great gaiety were to be had alonmg with the Children;s Sunshine Cabaret, Frakson (the man with a hundred cigarettes, why I do not know) and dancing to the Jack Harris Grosvenor House Dance Band. All yours for 25/-.
The folder is diecut so that the cover exposes the dance band seen in the full illustration.

The Trade Facilitation Programme (TFP) currently includes over 100 issuing banks in the EBRD region and more than 800 confirming banks worldwide. The event gave 250 guests the opportunity to review and discuss current market challenges with key industry specialists, regulators and representatives from the World Trade Organization, the International Chamber of Commerce HQ and the local, national ICC committees industry. It also featured the highly popular annual award ceremony for ‘The Most Active EBRD TFP Banks’ and ‘Deal of the Year’.
