Sorry for bombarding you with squirrel photos. I spent quite a lot of time with the squirrels at Monrepos last Sunday and took many photos. Due to the gloomy weather and a lot of work I haven't had any possibility to look for other photo ops this week.
The squirrel in this shot is a young female, very curious and not worried at all by my presence. In the last two or three years Monrepos has become quite popular among animal photographers and I guess the younger squirrels more all less grew up among people and cameras.

Well...This was a long time coming LOL Last time I did a profile pic was three years ago, good lord ^^;;
ANYWAY! Finally hunkered down and did it, also get to show off my spiffy new 2.0 version of my logo.
Hey, I just realized I can use this to update my banner too! WOO! I just might do that, though I would love to do a 'reboot' of that pose. I really liked that pose. But even before that, I'll do a nude version of this. In retrospect I should have done those at the same time I did these! But for some reason I thought it would be better not to, at that time. Well, lessons learned!

So, quick: what do you see? I have stared at this far too long, trying to decide how to process it, how to crop it, and what to name it. I processed the image through Color Efex Pro 4, then used luminosity masks to manipulate shadows and highlights. My biggest challenge seemed to be keeping the image soft. Each curve added harshness, and harshness didn't seem to fit here. I liked the full frame image--it included the floor of the chamber and the sense of interlocking leaves of sandstone fading into the tunnel. But I could see that the eye would go to the wall detail, and that there would be an inevitable anthropomorphization (that may be the longest word I've ever typed). So I cropped full frame to an 8X10 aspect, featuring the obvious and removing distraction. Which led to a long period of trying to decide what it looked like so I could name it. Trying with one eye closed, both open, deliberately blurring--too many ideas of people, animals, and objects came to mind. So, better to let you see what YOU see, and I'll just call it a Profile.
It occurs to me that what the eyes see and the brain decides, so quickly, is actually an ACT of profiling. Imagine that. Human nature.
Since this is something I have been struggling with lately, how do you stay inspired? How do you keep fresh ideas flowing?
