Asian water monitors (varanus salvator) have very long tails so that, if you photograph the whole animal, you can negate some of the detail around the head - so here's a close-up in profile. Photographed in Cha-Am, Phetchaburi, Thailand.
This land monitor (varanus bengalensis) raised its head nicely as I got closer to it. The animal's snout is a little muddy from foraging - its diet is varied, including mice, ants, fruit, frogs, spiders, scorpions and beetles. Photographed in Yala, near Kirinda, Sri Lanka.
Second day of almost non stop rain so trips to the wetter than usual wetlands are rather limited. I took this a few days ago.
Profile of a yellow-vented bulbul (pycnonotus goiavier), photographed in Khao Lak, Phang Nga Province, Thailand.
I was bored, and looking a little different and feeling pretty, so here's a pic. Still deciding where I want to go with being more fun, but that's down to when I feel like showing you all my bits. Well, showing you all at once, anyway. 😘
Love the way the lighting and post came out with this, and I think there's definitely more of this painting-style vibe in the future. I bet *that* ends up with me showing my bits off!!!
A Malabar pied hornbill (anthracoceros coronatus) displaying, in profile, its improbable beak and casque. This was one of a pair I saw in Kumana National Park, Sri Lanka. More at "Colin Pacitti Wildlife Photography & Fishing Travels" - www.colin-pacitti.com.

Shooting these lovely birds in the mangroves can be so challenging, except when they decide to take on a higher profile, as this Great Egret did this morning. Their beauty, once a magnet for slaughter, is now safely on full display.
Native to North Africa, Uromastyx geyri is a species of lizard within family Agamidae.
Natural habitat is rocky, semi-arid areas. Their colours range from light beige to this gorgeous orange.
Length around 35 cm.
I don't remember where I saw this lovely specimen, perhaps Taronga Zoo in Sydney, or the Australian Reptile Park, Central Coast.

This will be the last photo of the Plains Bison cow taken last week. She looks so docile in this photo, but she was keeping an eye on us as we took her pictures. There was a young female bison laying down behind her, I think she was keeping guard over her.
A female olive-backed sunbird (cinnyris jugularis), perched on a reed stem and outlined against a cloudy sky. Photographed on Hat Yao Noi, Phang Nga, Thailand.
Seen heading east off Portsmouth.
