Zoo City is a ten-part original neo-noir series written and directed by Christopher Hall, starring Max Williams, shot on the Canon 7D HD-SLR camera.
We had an awesomely productive and fun shoot yesterday for a teaser trailer we're putting together. Our producer Jesse Silver found the perfect abandoned warehouse for us in a horrible and run-down part of downtown.

1. View from behind camera (tripod) strobes fired (see the nice shadows :-)
2. Similar view as #1, available light (no strobes fired, so no shadows form outside light).
3. View from far end of shot looking back towards camera.
4. View outside building looking back into the set.
Lighting:
• Main light: Dynalite 2000 watt pack with (2) 2040 heads @ 500 watts each in a 4x6 Chimera to camera right, silk diffusion covering right side to reduce the amount of light closest to the people.
• Outside light shooting in at back wall to create pattern of light on the wall: Dynalite 2000 watt pack @ 1000 watts, with (1) Dynalite 2040 head, 10" reflector, no diffusion on a Bogen Master stand about 13' high
• Outside rim light: 1000 watt pack @ 500 watts, 10" reflector with diffusion
• Hairlight: Dynalite 2000 watt pack @ 1250 watts, Medium Chimera on Matthews arm to extend over railing a little bit.

She’s got a cool look about her as she sits in the door
Like maybe she’s thinking of something that I’ll never know
Oh what’s this life for
She got it all figured out she knows what she needs
While I can’t touch the bottom and I can’t breathe
Oh help me to breathe
And she hears it all
She hears it all
Sunflowers turn ‘round
And they take the light of day
While she gives it away
They turn ‘round
She needs the light of day
We add to the clutter to hide the ghosts that remain
But in these small hours they play again and again
Oh where’s my light of day
She hears it all
Sunflowers turn ‘round
And they take the light of day
While she gives it away
They turn ‘round
She needs the light of day
But she gives it away
The money’s gone dancing and I won’t tell
She reads like a book but she hides it well
She’s given your name to someone else’s eyes
She’ll bury your truth in the comfort of lies
Sunflowers turn ‘round
And they take the light of day
While she gives it away
They turn ‘round
She needs the light of day
But she gives it away
Like you and me
Like you and me
I just love this shot!! A woman with a shotgun has got to be good. The actress is Eleanor Parker.

Radio Gibbon will be broadcast on BBC2 8pm, 9th December 2009
Good Morning Kalimantan 6 x 30 BBC Series TBA
"Gibbons, the elusive singing apes of South East Asia. At dawn, their magical love songs herald the start of each new day. Now, in Borneo, their songs are falling silent as their forest home is destroyed. But help is at hand from an unexpected source. Meet Chanee: a young Frenchman who, using music, matchmaking, and a unique radio station, is dedicating his life to saving Borneo's gibbons."
Recently, I went through all my photos (1000s of them?) to make sure we are using the best ones in the film. I stumbled upon this one and realize we had a blurrier one in the film, so I swapped it out.
The woman who made this back in the 1940s was pure genius. The scale is 1:1. Look at the detail! The drain is phenomenal.
Anyway, the film is moving right along and we are near completion.
