Because I uphold the values of humanity in a democratic society, the exact same values that the everyday Brazilian holds but doesn't receive like I do. Because if Australia were to stop prospering, and education and healthcare so out of reach, I would want to protest and make noise to be heard as well. And I would hope some everyday person stopped enough to care.

The Market (a small photo essay): Part 3 - Dried Fish AMPt_community EyeEm Best Shots foodporn shootermag Procamera, Snapseed, Steph filter /// As someone with a Chinese heritage (no, I am not from mainland China), I love salted fish - like in many Mediterranean countries, fresh food is preserved by salting and drying. I've just never seen so many varieties up close. Fish prepared like this is wonderful in fried rice and stir fries - it adds body and dimension to a dish like no other. No, not the whole fish, but sliced or diced - and a heck better than table salt! These stalls added the balance to the smell of the market. You have that strange, sharp smell that is raw meat, and then the musky wetness of fresh seafood. The dried fish was the body of all the smells.

I am experimenting with *studio* portraiture. On Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, I posed a friend, Sophie Dorion. We worked on three themes: Sadness, Hope and Sensuality. My interest is to see how the combination of emotional manifestation by the model and my editing can meld to create poignant works.
