The highlighted quote made me pause and was what made me decide to not just post photos with short captions. Carlos Pio, the professor of international political economy at the Universidade de Brasilia and at the Australian National University in Canberra writes, "The protesters will not win much and will soon recede. And unfortunately Brazil will remain socially unequal, attached to failed ideologies -- economically stagnate but still democratic."

shot with an iPhone4, ProCamera, worked with Snapseed.... hmmm, that was fun! Just getting used to taking the iPhone seriously as an alternative camera... I'll be leaving my 7D at home more often!

I look at the photos of these passionate people who love their homeland but whom I have no doubt love being here in Australia as I do. Like anything in life, it is all too easy to live one's life unaware of the things that are happening. It is when you hear human voices that you understand that what is happening somewhere far away is based on the same values that I uphold here. Politics is never perfect, and governments are not either. But the social inequality is certainly not as severe, nor as painfully obvious. It could be, if it fell in the wrong hands.
