Vandalised car wreck
412 x 152 x 141 cm
Ford was sold a second-hand car that broke down within five hours driving time and went on to break down multiple times, subsequent to initial repairs that cost more than the car. After killing a cat on its first outing, losing a court case to get his money back from the trader, and continuous mechanical problems, Ford decided to cut his losses and publically destroy his cursed Nissan Primera.
On the 17th July 2010 a crowd gathered to assist with the destruction at an event called Smash N Tag. Ford provided safety gear, sledgehammers and spray paint, and there was the option to bring along your own weapon. Even on the day of its death, the curse of the car summoned rain. Participants donned hoods and brought weapons such as axes, bats and even an old Macintosh computer to attack he car with. Each volunteer had a minute to do whatever they wanted to the car, as long as it didn’t cause an explosion. The result is a collaborative (anti-)sculpture formed by public, cathartic action.

We took a little trip down to Georgetown to take pictures. I spotted this awesome mural/artist collection on the side of a building and we stopped to take some shots.
The Problems of First Contact: First contact is one of the lasting tropes of SF. But once contact has happened, then what? Should an advanced race hide itself from us for fear of stunting our natural growth? Is it immoral to leave individuals in primitive poverty in the hope that they might one day develop their own culture? Can advanced peoples colonize a planet inhabited by primitives and live in peace with them? Are there any useful object lessons from science fiction? How about from our own history?

My friends baby, she is one month old in these pictures! Stephanie was born with some heart problems so she is actually smaller than when she was born. Please pray for her.
The biggest problem I had with with taking these shots wasn't the exposure or even the difficulty in swinging the lights, my shutter release cable (a knock off of the Canon timer cable) wouldn't trigger the shutter after the mirror was locked up.
I lost at least 5 shots that were all fine to this. Long story short, I'll not be using mirror lock up when trying this next time. The funny thing about it though, when I was sitting behind the camera, pressing the button and waiting, it worked fine every time. I did the same thing and walked away, it never worked?

Participants in USAMMDA’s inaugural Leadership Develop-ment Cohort Program work on a class assignment during a breakout session in March at U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) offices in Frederick, Maryland, near Fort Detrick. Coach John Riordan’s philosophy is that you cannot just bypass a problem; it has to be addressed. Thus the cohort learns that regardless of who identifies a problem—a junior staffer or the chief of the organization—it needs to be resolved, and people at all levels can be leaders in the effort. She's been learning to write her letters, and is definitely left handed. She's used both hands, but mostly her left for the last year so we weren't sure which she'd ultimately choose. Now that she's writing more, my tiny tot has chosen her left hand. Good thing I can write with both, so teaching her won't be a problem. :O)
"That's two quid a shot," the guy on the left said in a broad Yorkshire accent, when he spotted me taking photo's. Though after a little conversation it became clear that what they really needed was a new throttle cable.
This was supposed to be a candid shot of a child crying in the Paris RER train. Too bad he spotted me with the camera on the train headed in the opposite direction.

2ND KUMASI BIENNIAL SYMPOSIUM: COMMUNITY ARTS IN FOCUS
Date: July 16 - August 6, 2011.
Venue: Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi and the Nearby Village of Abetenim in Ashanti Region of Ghana.
The 3-week event focused on community arts practice, as a response to the growing problem of widening gap between contemporary African artist and the rural community.
The British-designed replacements for the outclassed Meteor and Vampire fighters were suffering many development problems, and the appearance early in the Korean War (1950 to 1953) of the Soviet MiG-15 forced the Royal Air Force to acquire the North American Sabre.
At a critical time in East/West relations, with no other Western jet able to combat the MiG-15, the United States of America supplied the Royal Air Force with 430 high-performance, swept-wing Sabre fighters.
The Royal Air Force’s Sabres were built in Canada and most were based in Germany as part of NATO’s 2nd Allied Tactical Air Force. The Royal Air Force actually had some experience of the type before it was introduced into service as a small number of British pilots flew with the Americans in Korea. A number of MiG-15 aircraft were shot down by these Royal Air Force pilots. Most pilots found the Sabre a delight to fly and many expressed disappointment when they were replaced by the Swift and early marks of the Hunter.
In the spring of 1955 the first Hunters began to arrive in Germany, completely replacing Sabres by June 1956. The Sabres were returned to the Americans who passed them on to the Italian and Yugoslav Air Forces.
Sitting there on my bike shooting like crazy with the camera. I took very similar picture back in March.
Test roll: almost all images are ruined. On the lower & left side of the negative. Why, I don't know. (BTW some images don't have this problem.) What's happened??

I was having a problem with Carrara and a bottle, in particular the liquid going grey when inside the bottle. So I rendered this to see where the problem was. It turned out the bottle had some shader domain issues. Doh.
Greenwood County has been ordered to expend 15 million to improve the dam so that it is eartrhquake proof. If it should break, I guess a good part of Saluda downstream would flood.
Probably built 1940.
