Having suffered all day from the tremendous heatwave here in Southern England I decided to do something proactively against sweating and find my solace and refreshment in this memory from May when we stood by the shore of this little Icelandic river which had sculpted kind of half pipes into the unbelievable masses of snow. I am sure you will feel just as refreshed as I did when picturing myself back in this place :)
than when I scurry around looking and searching with a proactive approach :-)

The Peregrine Falcon is one of the fastest and powerful birds in the world with eyes as good as telescopes and has extraordinary agility.
Hooded Crows use their intelligence to identify threats. Studies show that crows are remarkably efficient at picking out potential environmental threats. So instead of waiting until they’re attacked, crows often take proactive action to scare birds, animals, or even humans from their habitats.
One of the main techniques crows use to defend their territories is mobbing.
Some crows are happy to take on large birds on their own or in a group. This crow was on its own and showed no fear. Single crows have been observed violently pursuing eagles that are many times bigger than them.
The battle raged on but who was the winner.
Cliff Swallows building a nest on the bare face of the hotel walls were clinging to the bricks and masonery.
The hotel manager looked sullen. I explained I was happy to get a Life Bird Photograph, but he wanted to know how to get rid of the birds : )). Animal control and an exterminator had explained to him that the nesting birds were protected and can't be removed without a permit.
The manager has a problem. As I walked around the large hotel, I stopped counting at about three hundred nests in the early stages of construction. More new birds seem to arrive each day, he said. A massive colony was in its beginning stages, one that has singled out this hotel (none of the adjacent hotels seemed affected.). He "coulda/shoulda" been proactive, before the birds started their nest-building. I explained he might be able to get a permit for at least some of the areas like around the main entrance, claiming health concerns, and that after the summer many of the birds may leave giving him a chance to "start over."

Will I find luck 🍀
Among the clovers
Will I find proof that luck will come into my life?
Helloooooo
Take a look around
Stop a bit
Isn't there already lots of luck in your life
Lots of nice things that happen
Lots of small joys
Lots of kind people around you
Why not suck it all in
Be aware of what you have already
Instead of wishing for other things
And if it's so that you aren't happy
Why not try to turn your way on the path of life
Into what makes you happy
Towards your goals
Not others goals for you
Instead of searching for luck 🍀
Be proactive
Take control
Find your balance
Your intuition is there, whispering in your ear
Like a lover whispers
Quietly
Caring
Loving
The breath is caressing your ear as it's whispering
Breathe and close your eyes
How strange as is sounds
Awareness is the answer
And by closing your eyes you will more easily see

I’ve never much been one for mono photography but after a recent camera club challenge I thought I’d be a little more proactive with my monochrome photography. I’m finding the results quite pleasing and I’m finding that the mono treatment adds a depth and mood not always present in colour photography.

I went to see how the rut was going the other day, not quite got going yet unless this chap was giving me a false impression... perhaps he was taking a break from pacing around. He was making a fair bit of noise but from a very laid back position. I would've preferred to get all his antlers against the light grass, the top ones are against the bracken, however I didn't want to get any closer in case he suddenly decided to get more proactive...!

Keep soil alive, Protect soil biodiversity!
Plants nurture a whole world of creatures in the soil, that in return feed and protect the plants. This diverse community of living organisms keeps the soil healthy and fertile. This vast world constitutes soil biodiversity and determines the main biogeochemical processes that make life possible on Earth.
This year, by addressing the increasing challenges of soil management, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) campaign "Keep soil alive, protect soil biodiversity" aims to raise awareness of the importance of sustaining healthy ecosystems and human well-being. By encouraging people around the world to engage in proactively improving soil health, the campaign also aims to fight soil biodiversity loss. If we do not act soon, the fertility of soil will continue to be adversely affected at an alarming rate, threatening global food supplies and food safety.
Encouraging all people to participate, FAO has created a thematic website full of information, initiatives and material to spread the message through different multimedia platforms.

i noticed a something, a reflection, in one of the tanks,
so i took the shot,
The sand coloured graffiti added to the illusion, others of the rake had graffiti, it was a complete fluke that i happened to shoot this one.
I have worked it with adjustments and additions, but this is the original, now framed, equally randomly ... the top edge of the framing is actually a shadow and sunlight line across the image, i just utilised it as part of the overall frame.
To see the 2 images created to use this original shot click on the album, "That Cement Tank" just to the right ;-))
the reason that i was able to enjoy leniently this world also this year was all of you who show me the wonderful world through objects or flicker, and all friends who have been always gentle. i hope i can output from my side in proactive ways to you all for your influence and kindness that i received this year.
thank you for the year. i wish you a wonderful coming year.

To end our day, drinks and canapes in the bushveld. For those who may be interested, an extract from my Journal from this day in 2016:
At sunset we stopped, Owner (our Guide) handed out drinks and we had canapes while watching the sun set over the African plain. The temperature dropped instantly and we put on layers of clothes that we'd been told to bring. It was a long drive back to Kanana Camp,
A few surprises in the late afternoon. The tall grass is home to countless tiny spiders who seem to cast threads of web that float on the breeze above the grass. They make a lovely sea of gossamer on the grassland in the late afternoon sunlight. Their webs got all over our vehicle and a few of the tiny spiders found their way into the vehicle and onto us.
Sage bush grown up to 2 metres high, the scent of sage fills the air almost everywhere we drive. It was the same in Chobe National Park; for me, sage is the signature smell of Botswana.
Apart from the tiny spiders, the most prevalent insect are the mosquitoes. These are fine bodied insects somewhat smaller than the ones I know. In the hour before sunset the air is filled with mosquitoes, I must keep a hand over my nose and mouth to keep them out. They sit on my glasses and will not move, they also get on the inside of my glasses. A few got in my ears where they drove me mad.
As with all mosquitoes, they buzz. Standing still in the open all I can hear is the chorus of countless millions of mosquitoes. They may be smaller than the mosquitoes at home, but they bite with equal ferocity. Owner says these are not malaria carrying mosquitoes, and he may be right, and still I take a malaria tablet every morning.
Our beds are surrounded by mosquito nets. In Botswana the government provides mosquito nets for every citizen in the country. With so many mosquitoes, it seems a generous thing to do, in fact it's part of a proactive policy to eradicate poverty, combat disease and promote the health and well being of the people. Imagine that, a government that governs for the good of the people; that's President Khama for you.
When I returned to my room around 9 o'clock I found all the window covers were still up and my tent was an icebox. I rolled down the covers and went to bed. Finding something warm under the bed covers was a shock, it was not some warm blooded creature, but a hot water bottle, affectionately called a Bush Baby because one can hold them close and they give off warmth.
Deutsches Hygiene-Museum, Dresden
"The creation of the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum (1912) harks back to the efforts of the Dresden industrialist Karl August Lingner (1861-1916), the manufacturer of the mouthwash Odol. In 1911 Lingner had been among the protagonists of the First International Hygiene Exhibition, for which more than five million visitors had come to Dresden. This exhibition combined state-of-the-art technologies and unprecedented lifelike displays and models to impart knowledge about human anatomy and address issues of proactive health care and diet."

1. ( Listen harder )
We already know that proactive listening should be your first social skill. We know this because we love when people listen to us, so we find it safe to assume that other people love when we listen to them.
2. (Be considerate)
Once you’ve listened, it’s time to act accordingly. If there was anything about the persons tone of voice or body language that gave a hint as to how they were feeling, use that information in your interaction.
3. (Keep your promise)
By keeping your word to someone, you not only establish yourself as a person of integrity, but make the other person feel as though you value them.
4. (Be on time)
Another way to demonstrate that you value someone, is by treating their time as though it is valuable. Nothing says this better than being punctual. If you have a problem with being chronically late, read my post Always Late? Let’s fix it.
5. (Have manners)
This is pretty simple. Do not interrupt a conversation, be polite and watch your ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. By showing manners towards someone, you make them feel valuable.
6. (Encourage)
Sometimes when we hear a silly idea, it’s easy to shoot down someone’s hopes and dreams, or otherwise make them feel unimportant. Genuinely encouraging someone could be very empowering and liberating.

A spider web, spiderweb, spider's web, or cobweb is a structure created by a spider out of proteinaceous spider silk extruded from its spinnerets, generally meant to catch its prey.
Spider webs are built from silk, which is produced within the body of the spider and pulled out of two openings–spinnerets–with the spider's hind legs. ... Sticky silk or viscid silk. Used to capture prey, this stretchy, wet silk makes up the spiraling threads of the web. Non-sticky silk or dragline silk.
Spider webs may lack the stiffness of steel, but it has similar tensile strength and a higher strength-to-density ratio. "Quantitatively, spider silk is five times stronger than steel of the same diameter," explains a fact sheet from the University of Bristol School of Chemistry.
1. Spiders have a design sense.
Some webs are extremely intricate. Most people assume that the design is purely functional, but this is not always the case. Some spiders, particularly the large family known as orb weavers, actively decorate their webs with extra silk designs known stabilimenta. The name “stabilimenta” represents the bias of early researchers who assumed that these structures were structural, but the absence of stabilimenta in the webs of nocturnal spiders strongly suggests that these structures are designed to be seen.
2. Spiderwebs don’t intercept prey; they attract them.
The presence of deliberate structure dispels another common misperception about spiders, that they set up in a promising area of insect travel and wait to see what happens. However, many spiders seem to be far more proactive in their web building, building webs that are designed to actively attract insect prey, not just trap the unlucky.
3. Spiderwebs are shiny for a reason.
Many insects have better visual perception in UV wavelengths of light. Spiderwebs are much more reflective in UV light, possibly attracting insects. The decorations may also resemble vegetation gaps where insects are more prone to fly.
4. Spiders are sneaky.
Decorations come with a risk; while they might attract more insects, they are also more visible to predators who may threaten the spiders. When you see a web with old exoskeletons and egg sacs hanging in it, it could well be the case that the spider left those on purpose as camouflage.
5. Spiders think big.
Overall, web size is also carefully set. Most insects caught by spiders are small; a larger web increases the odds of catching more flies. However, spiders may not be able to fully thrive and reproduce while consuming solely run-of-the-mill small insects. In a study of orb weavers, most spiders rarely caught more than 2 small insects per day. For true success, some spiders may need the occasional big score—the rare but desirable large prey (larger than the spider itself) that gets snagged in the web.
6. Spiders often replace their web every day.
Many spiders actually replace their entire web every single day. Larger webs cost the spider more energy to produce, which really adds up with each rebuild. Large catches apparently more than offset the increased energy output.
So really, spider webs are more amazing even than they first appear. For a construction job done right, get a spider to do it.

Christian IV (12 April 1577 – 28 February 1648) was King of Denmark and Norway and Duke of Holstein and Schleswig from 1588 to 1648. His reign of 59 years, 330 days is the longest of Danish monarchs, and of all Scandinavian monarchies.
A member of the House of Oldenburg, Christian began his personal rule of Denmark in 1596 at the age of 19. He is remembered as one of the most popular, ambitious, and proactive Danish kings, having initiated many reforms and projects. Christian IV obtained for his kingdom a level of stability and wealth that was virtually unmatched elsewhere in Europe.[1] He engaged Denmark in numerous wars, most notably the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648), which devastated much of Germany, undermined the Danish economy, and cost Denmark some of its conquered territories.[2] He rebuilt and renamed the Norwegian capital Oslo as Christiania after himself, a name used until 1925.

You would think that being only 5 minutes away from it, I would have been more proactive in shooting the Pere Marquette 1225 when they do their seasonal runs of the Polar Express. However, I waited until the last day they were running to shoot, and about 90 minutes before departure, I had to go into work to fix a problem at a crossing. After getting home, I decided lighting up a GP35 was a decent consolation prize, but it sure wasn't what I wanted from that day.
When you have a Growth Mindset, you believe that your vote and your voice means something and you raise children to also believe this. And, when you have candidates who don't follow through, you protest and vote them out. This is what we must continue to do. A new America is not just new leadership but a new philosophy on being an active citizen and what it means to stand up for human rights and to have definite opinions on progress and ethics. A new America needs to see the data on climate change and act. A new America needs to support Science and get a safe vaccine out to states as soon as possible. A new America needs to welcome immigrants and support public education again. A new America needs to provide health care to its citizens and put more money into funding communities with proactive mental health than policing its people. A new America needs to end for profit prisons and work actively to end our history of institutionalized racism.
Having a fixed mindset means you become complacent and don't make demands because you think your voice is meaningless. It means you let good people suffer while you watch your country slowly fall apart like a patient with a terminal disease. You hold up your hands, only slightly convinced you could have done better and made a difference. But, you just spend all your days being afraid or angry or lazy or a sad combination of all three.
Which one will you have for the next four years for your country and for the world? How will you fight for human rights? How will you make this world a better place than when you entered it?

This beautiful estate dates from 1838 when a two story brick house replaced a log cabin that was destroyed by a fire. Additions were built over the years with a major addition on the east side of mansion in 1913. Along with the main house the family had a stable built. The property has a beautiful view of the bends of the Ohio River that separate Indiana and Kentucky. Since 2004 the 116 acre site is owned by the Indiana Landmarks, a very proactive preservation group.
Hello, my dear friends!
I trust you're all doing well. I wanted to offer a brief update on why I haven't been sharing my usual nature and wildlife photos recently, despite embarking on some incredible photo adventures.
Life has been keeping me quite busy, and there have been moments when I've been so captivated by the beauty of nature while leading tours that I've forgotten to hit that share button. Rest assured, though, my camera and I remain inseparable, and my collection has grown with numerous new photos just waiting to be shared with you.
I'm committed to being more proactive about sharing these breathtaking moments with you. Stay tuned for some of my most cherished images captured during my recent journeys. Today, I'd like to treat you to a stunning moment from a tour with friends in Yellowstone National Park this past May. Just outside the park, we were graced with a remarkable encounter with a small herd of Bighorn Sheep Rams. This particular ram stood head and shoulders above the rest.
Your patience is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to continuing our shared celebration of the wonders of our natural world

Nick Cave is a phenomenal artist for several reasons. One thing that I loved about this exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago is that there were audio pieces explaining some of the works. The main work the couple are viewing is called Speak Louder but the work above it is one of a few in his Tondo series. When Nick Cave started making Soundsuits, it was right after he heard about the police brutality and the Rodney King beatings. I posted a shot of his Soundsuits here:
www.flickr.com/photos/kirstiecat/52075785831/in/dateposted/
When he speaks about Tondo, he speaks about the effects of inner city violence on children. This is something that is a dear issue to me as I work with kids with disabilities in the public schools in Chicago. At one school I work at, kids come all over the city and 97% must be drawn from the highest poverty areas of the city according to the last census. So, when a parent is concerned because of a child's lack of attention or behavior and a nurse asks, "How much sleep does your child get each night?" and the parent replies "None because there are constantly gunshots and police sirens going off," you know something needs to change in this world.
As many of you know, I believe in proactive means to building better communities. As we continue to put more budgets into funding police, we actually have more crime because less is going into quality education, libraries, mental health facilities, preventing food deserts, equitable employment and low income housing. As our policing has increased, it means that there is also less of a viable public transportation system as well, at the same time that many families earning lower incomes cannot afford these astronomical gas prices and we all need to take an active role when it comes to climate change.
In my 21 years of working with children at Chicago Public Schools, I've worked at a few different schools. In 2003, I had the great honor of working with kids in the Cabrini Green neighborhood before re gentrification and racism (profit over people time and time again) unfortunately forced many people out. I've worked on the West side and lately on the North side. I love children all over the city. When I bike to the far South side to see art, some ask me if it's safe. Wherever children go, we should be willing to go. And, if we are not wiling to go there, we need to think about making it safer there. Chicago is a microcasm of the whole world in that respect. We have the ability to make a world where everyone has a basic level of human rights and a higher quality of life. We don't need little boys getting to go to space again. We don't need billionaires who have 10 homes. We need sustainability.
In all my years at Chicago Public Schools and in the hundreds upon thousands of children I've met (and hopeful helped), not one of them has ever told me he/she/they want to rob or kill people for a living. However, there was an eight year old girl who told a Speech Therapist I worked with that she wanted to be a cop "because they get away with murder." We need to be better.
I am an active voter and donate money to charity and some politicians. I wish I had more power. I wish I could also create something as beautiful as Nick Cave does when he falls into despair. Some people ask me what protesting does. Others ask me what making art does. Still, others ask me what voting does. I'll tell you I don't have all the answers (or any some days) but I can tell you this much, if we were ALL trying to make the world a better place. If we were all making decisions based on trying to be more kind, just, and human, this world would in fact change.
So, if you're kind, Speak Louder. If you're a fan of human rights, Speak Louder. If you want children of all races, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds to grow up in a better world, Speak Louder. If you want Environmental Justice, speak louder. If you want immigration rights and body autonomy, speak louder. If you want those in the LGBTQ+ community to have the same quality of life as those who are cis gendered and/or heterosexual, speak louder. If you want an end to the For Profit Prison Industrial Complex, speak louder.
Speak Louder.

I’ve seen so many status’s already about people ‘wanting 2016 to be over’. I just don’t understand what a change of a number is going to do for them? About 5 months ago I got serious about making real goals and accomplishing them. Since, I have. Recently I got promoted at my job, I started making work again, I travelled across the country, and started expanding my business. Success for me wasn’t found worrying about what he or she thinks, people’s feelings, slacking off or just waiting for something to happen. 2016 I was the most proactive I’ve been in a long time toward accomplishing goals and making real moves in life. As we progress into 2017 I challenge anyone to get serious with me and really make a push toward success. The last 5 months I’ve seen a lot of bullshit from a lot of people. The only thing I have to say to that is, if you’re on my team, leave that shit at home. Let’s get it

Doctors Without Borders is a genuine and proactive care of people and the global scale of their operations.
The sound medical care is a right not a luxury, and sees Doctors Without Borders as a persistent and successful organization determined to make this a tangible fact rather than a vague idea predicated on the approval of any political, religious or moral system.
Second Life, a community without borders, seems a perfect platform for both getting that message out and supporting their endeavors.
Please take just 2 minutes and read the following, it may pertain to you:
Hi everyone. I am in the process of “rebooting” my friends and lists here on Flickr.
Some of you may be aware that recently some of my photos had been stolen by another Flickr user and posted on his distasteful page as his own, without my permission. ALL my photos on here are Copyright “All Rights Reserved” by me. I will generously allow usage of my images if I am:
#1. Asked first.
#2. Provided a link to wherever they are being used.
#3. In return, the image is linked back to my page as the image source.
I keep all my photos “PG” and family friendly.
I make all personal photos either private, or Flickr-Friends-Only.
Most of you already know all this, but please just bear with me on this one.
I am in the process of going through all my contacts and changing statuses and deleting people.
I am changing most people to “contacts.” Those who will remain in “friend” status are:
**Friends I know in the “real” world.
**People I have been in contact with on Flickr for a long time and have gained my intrinsic trust.
**People I am in nearly daily contact with, who actively comment on my photos, fave them, send me messages, etc.
**If there is a specific reason I want to keep your page handy, i.e. I want to access your technical descriptions, your tutorials, or I just love your images and unfortunately don’t have the time to comment/fave right now.
I am not drumming up more page views/comments. This is to protect me and my friends on Flickr. For the following reasons, you may find yourself deleted and/or blocked:
**If you have added me as a friend, yet have no photos available to me, I will delete you. Unless you send me a message explaining who you are (some friends want the ability to comment and yet are not photographers themselves).
**If you have pornographic images (not tasteful artistic nudity), I will delete you and/or block you.
**If you have images involving criminal elements, I will delete you and/or block you.
**If you have stolen images on your page, whether they are mine or someone else’s, I will delete you, block you, and contact the Flickr's abuse department.
I am giving everyone fair warning here. I will not delete anyone for a couple of days. If you think you fall into one of these categories, go ahead and contact me. Otherwise, do not be offended if you end up deleted from my contacts and/or blocked entirely.
Hopefully by taking some proactive steps, I can protect myself and my trusted Flickr friends from stalkers and thieves in the future.
P.S. I really do want to visit all of your photostreams every day, I wish I had the time to do that. After this purge, it will be easier to visit most of you.
P.P.S. and just to clarify…taking photos of graffiti is not criminal. Nor is taking photos of graffiti artists painting murals.
AND ONE LAST P.S. – if you see my photos on any other site, please let me know ASAP! I will do the same for you.

To mark the broadcast of the investigation into the January 6th Trump led insurrection, here are just a few ways Republican politicians endanger everyone living and working in the U.S.:
Anti-Gun Control
U.S. Republican politicians have long the embraced the free, unencumbered proliferation of guns, including semi-automatic weapons. Currently, with the courts and Republican State Legislatures loosening or eliminating the few restrictions that were left, we are seeing the result - mass shootings at public events, workplace mass murder, kids with guns, shootouts at shopping malls, more school shootings every year, city neighborhoods ravaged by gun violence, increasing incidents of vigilante justice and racially motivated murder, the use of guns to intimidate democratic legislators, and threats of gun violence leveled at election officials, peaceful protestors, and school board members to name just a few.
Climate Change Denial
For decades, Republicans in the US have been the most vocal climate change deniers. As in the case of guns, climate change deniers in government have successfully staved off or eliminated vital programs to proactively address the problem until it's now too late. Like so many other of their anti-human policies, we are now seeing the result -- severe storms, tornadoes, floods, hurricanes intense heat waves, and devastating wild fires in numbers and at times and places they rarely or never occurred before.
Anti-Vax/Mask
During the height of the pandemic, five Republican State Legislatures actually encouraged workers to remain unvaccinated by extending unemployment benefits to those who had been fired for refusing vaccine and/or mask mandates. Here in Missouri, our republican State Attorney General threatened to sue schools with mask mandates, putting thousands of teachers, children and their families severely at risk. How many adults and children got sick and or died because Republicans couldn't understand that fighting a pandemic is a public health issue and not a political one?
Anti-Healthcare
In a rapidly changing work force, Republicans shot down every attempt to provide affordable healthcare to needy, underemployed and unemployed Americans, even before the Democrats passed the Affordable Care Act. After it was passed, Republicans introduced and voted on legislation to repeal or defund it more than 70 times. Donald Fucking Trump, vowed to repeal it as a campaign promise and replace it with a "better" plan he somehow never revealed. In Missouri, where I live, the Republican legislature refused to expand Medicaid coverage to the states' neediest residents, despite a voter initiative forcing them to do so and delayed implementation until the courts finally intervened.
Sadly, these are just a few examples of the injury, illness, death and destruction that major Republican policy positions have caused here at home and in the world at large. For US citizens, please remember this and vote.
It's always weird to me when the message doesn't really fit the expression...like your brain goes...wait, how am I supposed to actually feel? I think these people were happy because they saw so many others united in the same or similar messages below them during the Black Lives Matter march going on. And again, maybe some people can't join a movement because they tested positive or are caring for a vulnerable loved one or work at a job where they are (the nursing home where my grandma was living until she passed away now has 12 cases of workers testing positive and none of them were symptomatic).
Anyhow, this is a reminder because in Portland, Oregon over the weekend, there were a number of I guess secret possibly federal police...who came out of unmarked videos and terrorized protestors in a way that many people who have immigrated here felt was indicative more of a gestapo.

Then, on Friday night in Chicago, some young adults tried to take down a statue of Christopher Columbus and a just recently graduated high schooler got her teeth knocked out by the police. Several bike marshals had their bikes trashed and/or stolen. This is what "democracy" looks like? I don't think so. Again, these cheap symbols of oppression should not be taking precedence over human lives.

One thing I'd like to mention is that something cops like to claim, which is wildly inaccurate, is that their violent actions (including murder) are justified because they are/were "afraid." Statistically, however, in my country being a police officer does not even make the top ten most dangerous jobs. It's far more dangerous to be a roofer, a pilot, or a farmer.

So yeah, just a reminder that we should defund the police and redirect those funds for mental health services, low income housing, health care, and public education...you know, things that will actually help the common good.
In addition, it should be noted that the majority of violent crimes and property crimes are still not solved by the police in America even though they receive a huge share of most city budgets. Maybe we should be proactive helping ensure people have the resources so they aren't committing violence in the first place.

Every year we hold a Harvest Fest for our backyard visitors. It's as much fun for us as it is for them.
However, after setting everything up, we usually have to wait an hour or so for our visitors to show up. The change to the yard is usually quite extensive, so it takes time for them to get over their shock.
So this year, I decided to be proactive and am already setting out several goodie bowls, mixing things up, so our visitors can get accustomed to seeing new things. Hopefully this will cut down on some of our "waiting time" on "the day" of the event.
As you can see, this little Greedy Gut has gotten over his shock. Just wait until he sees what we have planned! LOL!

Tonight 30.01.2024 sees the local farmer being proactive in advance of the next winter storm predicted for 31.01.2024 and taking advantage of the dry ground to spread slurry in advance of the rain so it will be washed into the ground and feed the land - farmers are not allowed to apply slurry and have it lay on the surface for days on end.
i'm posting this intentionally noisy self-portrait because last night i dreamt i was attacked by a snake, that someone else had released in order to kill me. the snake bit my hand, and i could feel the doom-filled tingling, i could feel my lungs closing up. then some strange dark-haired girl came up and started slashing at my hand with a kitchen knife to get the poison out. as my blood drained into the sink, the sound of the rain outside my window woke me up.
now, how in holy hell do i get that image the hell out of my head?
when logging on this morning and looking at pics i snapped yesterday, i found this. and i thought, ah yes. that explains it.
sorry if this is too intense. i call it like i see it. and like i've said, i used to blog, now i flickr. the image + the words is what i'm after. and i really am ok. it was just a bad dream, my head trying to exorcise the demons. it's a new day, the sun's shining, florian's yelling at me to have breakfast, work calls, and life goes on.
This years aim is try and be more proactive with my photography and after receiving some photo assignment books for Christmas. I'm going to try and complete a 365 after 2 failed previous attempts, but I thought what the heck!
My working day can be focused and can be very stressful at times so this will hopefully help me relax and shift my focus and thoughts away from work when I'm at home and focus on my photography. The photos will be taken mostly on my iphone and will most likely be mundane day to day record shots or attempts to complete my photo assignments.
