On Claribel Road in the eastern hillsides of Stanislaus County, California grow thousands of acres of grapes. Mostly the foliage turns brown and falls. This particular area stood out. Beautifully colored vines some with grapes still hanging. Varietal wines no doubt. This region is dominated by the winery of Ernest and Julio Galleo.

I tried to place the blurred lights coming from the neighbor across the street, but could not hand hold the 1 second exposure that high up. I stood in the doorway with a lamp light in the bedroom.
Next time I’ll try standing at right angles to the window, to allow the window frame to dictate the dimensions.
Incidentally, those are sunflowers, but they are a faded pink with brown centers. This is the ONLY spot in the house where they work. The big YELLOW ones are on the dining room table, with plenty of light and yellow walls. I don’t like artificial flowers, but could not afford to buy bunches of the real thing, so these are used/hidden seasonally.
I know this is not a good photo. A good photographer would have deleted swiftly. But I am not a real photographer. Good or othewise. I am a witness and I see things. I wanted to see how much it could make visible, or document physical objects, in not total blackness, but.....I see what Paul Ewing is doing with his iPhone 11 Pro Max and I know it can be very creative and a good artistic tool.

Just playing with the Lumiquest Promax system to improve my skills with it. In this case it's the 80-20 fitted with the diffusion screen and sitting on a SB-900 speedlight. Camera is a D300 with a Nikon 85mm f/1.8 wide open.
