I snapped up an absolute bargain on trademe. Good thing about Nikon is the cheap glass you can purchase. Its old, discontinued but if it meets the required focal length than its all good!
I purchased an old *Nikon 24-50mm F3.3-4.5* its in mint condition and made in Japan. I won the auction at $101, progear put this same lens on trademe just recently for $450!!
I needed something that was wider than my 35mm prime. And even though I shoot exclusively in primes, I broke my gear trend and got this zoom. Ill be using this lens mainly for landscapes. Very happy with the result.
I have done some reading on white balance and set it to cloudy, I have read that DSLR's tend to over exaggerate cool and warm tones. And in sunset shots, its best to go warm. I planned for the whole day to take some landscape photographs, I was extremely lucky to have got a red and dramatic sunset.
Most importantly I felt at peace it is extremely rewarding in photography to feel so comfortable and just to slow things down a bit and admire the natural beauty. Something that I feel is highly forgotten in photography.

Picked up our grown ups' bike after it got fitted with a rack at the front and the babyseat on the back.
UPDATE: this was my attempt to save money and be healthy by getting a bike instead of a car. Unfortunately the bike shop didn't have any bikes for a short arse like me. My feet didn't really reach the ground and the first time I took Shae out for a ride, I lost control of the thing and the bike with my baby fell to the ground. Shaeleigh was fine, giggling even. But I was mortified!
