a place not just set apart but reverberant -- and it seems to me that, to achieve this, the gardener must put some kind of twist on the existing landscape, turn its prose into something nearer poetry.”

Liu Fang Yuan, the Garden of Flowing Fragrance, is one of the largest Chinese gardens outside China. Designed to create, preserve, and promote the rich and complex traditions of Chinese culture, this authentic garden is a special place for visitors to feel inspired by the elegant harmony of nature and poetry. Thanks to visionary landscape architects and artisans from China and the United States, inspired historians, expert gardeners, and generous benefactors, Liu Fang Yuan reflects today an exceptional combination of learning and beauty.

So very privileged, to have so many species so close to my doorstep. It makes this horrible time so much easier to bare, they never fail to excite me when I see them. This is the brightest green example I’ve ever seen :) so fresh.

Gorges de la Jonte (Cévennes National Park) - Lozère - Occitanie - France

The gorges of the Jonte between the causse Méjean (Lozère) and the causse Noir (Aveyron) were a privileged place of reintroduction of the vultures at the beginning of the 80s.

At this time, the Cévennes National Park and the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds) with the Fonds d'intervention des rapaces (FIR) implemented the reintroduction of the Griffon Vulture on the site of the cliffs of the Jonte, around the ravine of Cassagnes.

After the success of this reintroduction followed those of the Cinereous Vultures in 1992 and the Bearded Vultures in 2012.

Today these three species have recolonized the cliffs that overlook the Jonte from a height of between 300 and 450m and we can observe them all year long evolving in this superb environment !

Lincolnshire UK. - We are very privileged to still have these beautiful little creatures living in a log pile at the bottom of the garden, very fast but also inquisitive.

Many thanks for your views, faves, and very kind comments.

Last April, we were privileged to bo able to observe and photograph a pair of Merlins as they mated and defended their territory. A week or two ago four chicks fledged and are appearing to be doing well. This image shows the oldest and the youngest one, that still has a bit of down on his head.

They are a challenge to photograph as they are in a very dense patch of forest. Occasionally you get a little window clear of branches where you can spot them, as in this image.

Undisclosed Location, NL

We were so privileged in Spring 2019 to have a mated pair of White-tailed Kites take up residence at our local regional park. They put on the entire show from building the nest to seeing their 3 youngsters develop all the skills they would need to take on the world themselves. It was an unforgettable, joyous and thrilling time.

Here the male presents his bride with breakfast - a brief vocal announcement from him and she flies out to the mid-air rendezvous. The food "exchange" or "transfer" is a feat that always amazes me, if you could imagine, for instance, a USAF jet fighter performing that mid-air refueling maneuver with a tanker.

Or, how to gain privileged knowledge and, finally, live in a state of permanent certainty.

Although they are known as "pretty-privileged rats" to those who find them a nuisance, some Southern gourmands refer to them as the "chicken of the trees." No matter what you call them, they are everywhere - one of the most widespread species in the world.

A quick story about this location. . . . About two months earlier , I had been in this same spot to help someone jump start a car. It is heavily wooded here with lots and lots of squirrels. When I pushed the button to open the hood of my car - an action that Is accompanied my a slight noise, it startled a squirrel directly in front of my car that I hadn’t previously seen. The scared squirrel popped up at least five feet in the air and then quickly vacated the premises. It was nuts!

Two months later, same spot, same squirrel. . . . Probably not, and I certainly wasn’t going to try the car hood trick again as that is at least a 6-foot high fence little buddy is posing on! I just took his photo instead.

We were just two of the visitors not privileged enough to live here but fortunate enough to be able breathe the same air and soak up the same atmosphere as those lucky enough to - of that, which is Gwithian....I have always been so thankful for that. It feels almost like a transfusion that has to last us till the next visit....

making the journey an enlightened experience. My emphasis has mainly been on affirmative reactions to human behavior and a strong attraction to the beauty in nature :-)

In 1821, when Lillesand became a privileged port, it had a population of only 300 and had nine shipyards. By 1895 the merchant fleet was 95 vessels strong. But the death of the sailing ship caused severe economic difficulties for Lillesand. Sailing ships had been inexpensive and could be built from local timber. Steamers were built of steel, were expensive and required more capital than locals could muster. Shipyards were closed. Many of the residents emigrated from there to the United States. Lillesand remained a fishing village, though even this area suffered when the herring left the coast.

Carnaby's Black Cockatoo. (Calyptorhynchus Latirostris)

An endangered bird, only found in the south west of Western Australia. This was taken in Yanchep National Park where, suprisingly, there was a huge flock of them, possibly 300 which I was amazed and privileged at seeing. This is a male, distinguished by the red ring around the eye.

I am so privileged to be able to observe and photograph these beautiful birds. The pair is very comfortable with me, and have often left their chick(s) in my care while they spend some time elsewhere on the lake. In all the years observing loons, I have never witnessed this, and It brought tears to my eyes. While a gull overhead squawked and swooped as the loons were uncomfortably close to her own chicks, the parent loon reached over her chick and slept in this protective pose.

Once again, we were privileged to having the Great Crested Flycatchers nest in a birdhouse in the backyard. We were able to watch them from our deck through the entire process of choosing a place to nest, gathering the nesting material, then bringing food to their young. We were hoping for more babies, but there was only one. Once the baby fledged, they were gone, although we could still hear them close by. Our small town is growing at a rapid pace with housing going up everywhere, many trees are cut in the process, a large subdivision has grown very close to our backyard, so the fact that these beautiful birds nested in our backyard is very special. I think our backyard provides the only green space available in our little area.

'Teneral' means it has just emerged from its final larval moult and has yet to fly or fully develop its colouration. I was privileged to see this one take its first hesitating flight.

Saw this 4 story (shot this from the 2nd floor to cut out the clutter at the ground level) condo type house in the Sta Ana area while in traffic. The color and the height of the "condo" just grabbed me.

Recommend you view this Large On Black . Thanks for your visit and comments.

We are privileged to have so many beautiful and fascinating birds in our society, it is our duty to look after them and stop climate change!

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

Bald Eagle!

[Haliaeetus leucocephalus]

On the Bonne Bay boat tour, I was thrilled and privileged to see this wonderful creature. I think it’s a female, but I’m not entirely sure.

She sat on her nest, very tolerant of all the people on the boat who oohed and ahhed and clicked cameras at her.

She was quite far away, the light wasn’t great as the sun had temporarily disappeared behind low cloud, and I was all fingers and thumbs, in my excitement. I know it’s not a great photo, but it’s the best of about fourteen!

This is the first time I’ve seen a wild eagle. Ever. At home, friends and family always ask why I cart my camera everywhere I go...My answer is - “What if an eagle lands in front of me and I don’t have my camera?”

Thrilled to tiny wee bits!

I came across this magnificent bird about 3 years ago, while looking for wildlife in the North State of California. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw him, off in the distance. I tried hard to get close enough to him I could get a photo for proof that I'd actually seen such a bird. But try as I may, it wasn't to be that year.

However, last year I saw him again, if it was the exact same bird, I don't know. But I got the proof I was looking for in spades. I was able to take photos of him with 2 different camera's and lenses. Here then is but one of those photo's. Taken with the ever trusty Nikon D7200 and the 500mm f/5.6 lens. I love the older D7200, it's still one of my favorite camera's. Proof you don't have to spend a hundred thousand dollars on equipment to get really great shots of wildlife.

Hometown. Feeling fortunate and privileged that I get to see all this beauty every single day.

Another from the extraordinary sunset I was privileged to witness during my week in the Highlands. This time taken from Loch Cùl Dromannan as the rain beat down. If you look at the Loch surface you can see the rain drops.

I was privileged to spend a number of hours over the extended New Years holiday visiting SoCal’s latest celebrity, a Snowy Owl. She has been hanging out by day on the rooftops of homes in an Orange County neighborhood before she heads out late afternoon for her evening hunt. You may have heard of her by now as she has made all the local news, national news, and even CNN’s commentator Jeanne Moos did a fascinating piece on her. She’s about 1500 miles/2400 kilometres out of the southern boundary of her range. How she got here can only be guessed – came on a ship (Los Angeles Harbor isn’t that far away), blew in, followed the Snow Geese south and kept going – who knows.

She’s a big raptor, heavier than a Great Horned Owl by a pound. The first morning I spotted her I was a block away and could pick her out easily on the rooftop (the crowd of onlookers helped). This is an image from that magical morning, a bit drizzly, in fact you can see some water around her left eye and her feathers are a bit soppy. I gotta admit, my first look in camera of my first images pretty much overtook me with her beauty. Do enjoy!

For fence lovers the world over! ;o)

Castillo Sohail

Sohail Castle

Sohail castle is located in he heart of Fuengirola river mouth, on a small isolated hill that rises 38 meters above sea level. This circumstance makes it a privileged viewpoint of a wide coastal strip surrounded by the Sierra de Mijas and included in the present day town of Fuengirola.

The magnificent geographical conditions of this place have allowed, since ancient times , the continueous settling of Punic and Roman population. On the ruins of their settlements in the Caliphate period a first tower was built, perhaps a watchtower.

Later, in the twelfth centry, the Almovarids built a defensive enclosure against the Christian army, that was in full offensive against the Moorish kingdom of Granada.

From that moment the military fortress underwent an inevitable process of readjustment of its architecture that would gradually give way to its present appearance: replacing the turning entrance by a direct one, demolishing one of the east towers to built up a platform for the placement of guns, or rearranging the southwest corner of the wall to turn it into an archer's wall after its blasting by the Napoleonic army during the war of independence.

A few years later the castle lost its military function and was sold at public auction. The transition to civil use took it a period of abandonment that would not be interrupted onto the second half of the last century.

The works carried out in recent years by the school workshop have enabled the Sohail Castle to be recovered as a historical meeting point for the people of Fuengirola and as a space where different cultural events are currently held.

in a place where the people really care about them. That’s rare and unusual.

I have been privileged to see mama bunny nurse the babies many times, but it is difficult to photograph because of the long grass and not wanting to make her nervous. Here I am photographing from my upstairs window, inside my house. Can you see three of the babies? She has at least 5.

I've been privileged to spend some real quality time recently with this mated pair of Bald Eagles. They are magnificent simply to observe, like here, as they enjoy each other in the early morning sun. In my last post of them a week or so ago, I thought they might be discussing fish, but I think they have other things on their minds here. Valentines Day coming, stay tuned. And be sure and check this large to see them at their best!

In my eight years that I've been privileged to watch the local burrowing owl population, this was from the epic day I will never forget. I had this little family all to myself for over 2 hours, until they finally retreated into their burrow as the day was heating up.

Here's the story: Dad far left has just brought in a tasty figeater beetle, and somehow, it got dropped. The goofy youngsters didn't pick up on it, and continued to press dad for their breakfast. It took a few moments, till one of the birds behind the aggressive little beggar in the front caught on and made off with it. Comical little birds, a joy to watch.

On this CrAzY TuEsDaY a TV Documentary of the Wild Garden will exclusively be broadcasted on ‘Teddy TV’ Channel.

LIM & LUNA were able to preview this great Documentary. Both were happy to see their new friend - ‘Pheasy’ the Pheasant- online. But when LIM and his Pal PADDY appreared on TV, too, their excitement became almost uncontrolled. I was privileged to be their photographer while they were watching their Wild Garden Scenes.

However, it was impossible to convince either LIM or LUNA to give the camera a big smile for this capture. They just could not take their eyes off the screen.

But hang on ! Isn’t it today that CrAzY TuEsDay only wants to see the photo models’ rear view ??? Even the pheasant followed this requirement …… at least he tried ...

Earlier this year, I was privileged to spend a little time with a beautiful Female Iberian Lynx & her cub. For the most part, the cats took it easy during the heat of the day, but, like Kittens everywhere, the cub needed very little excuse to play.
