Just the facts ma'am.

Life is often looking for answers, where there are no good answers to be had-- it's no use mining for diamonds where there's none to be found. That's a fact ma'am.

Somewhereville PI Eddie "The Razor" Doyle known for his clean shaven cheeks that are reputably as soft as a baby's bottom, waits for a freighter from Shanghai to pull into port. Eddie received a hot lead that the freighter is smuggling a load of left handed chop sticks--a definite culinary faux pas and embarrassment when they show up in local restaurants.

Somewhereville PI, Eddie" the Razor" Doyle leaving the wharf after solving the case of "the left handed chop sticks." He found the chop sticks in a tired rusty Shanghai freighter filled with cargo containers large enough to hide a thousand sins. Now it was time for a visit to his second office, a wharf side bar where the bartender knew Eddie's order better than his name. Bourbon was his faithful confidant, his silent partner on those cases that took him down darker roads than he’d ever cared to walk.

Somewhereville detective Rudy "The Sniffer" Malloy smells a rat on the wharf. Fact is, he smells a lot more than that. He's also astute at sniffing out someone else's whiskey, and has an uncanny ability to sniff out leftover takeout, which in his view compliments the whiskey quite nicely

My name is Eddie Malloy. They call me "the razor" because I prefer a close shave on my cheeks. I'm a Private Dick in Somewhereville. Somewhereville's not the best city in the world, and it's also not the worst. By day the city wears a thin veil of respectability-- shopkeepers sweeping stoops, kids playing with their phones on the corners, and clerks sweating under fluorescent lights. The cops work harder than they should have to and care less than they should want to. Somewhereville’s law isn't about justice; it's about balance—keeping just enough order to keep the gamblers gambling, the drinkers drinking, the hustlers hustling and the citizens quiet. My job isn't finding the truth—it's figuring out whose truth matters most. My goal is to keep my lights on and the whiskey flowing.

Somewhereville Private Investigator, Eddie "Shadow" Mercer, combs the waterfront searching for Louie "the Squid. "The Squid" owes bar owner Big Tony a wad of cash and Tony's the type to collect--one way or another. In the end, everyone pays their tab, especially the rats who call the docks their home. Louie vanished into the fog three nights ago, leaving behind only a faint smell of clam chowder--Eddie is determined to sniff him out.

Somewhereville PI Eddie "the Razor" Doyle wrapped up the case of the left handed chopsticks and tied it in a neat little knot--but it had left him frayed at the edges. Cases like this didn’t just sit on his desk—they climbed into his bones, leaving bruises he’d feel for weeks. The kind that kept him coming back here, to the edge of the water, where secrets sank deep and trouble floated just below the surface. He hadn’t slept in two days, and his hip flask of bourbon was starting to taste like regret. Somewhere out there, past the fog and the lights, was a city waiting to chew him up all over again. But for now, it was just him and the lost souls slinking into the obscurity of the empty docks, with a cold wet silence wrapping around him like a shroud.

Private Investigator Thomas Magnum has used this 1982 Ferrari 308 GTSi in the television series in 1982 and 1983. This is the original car - it was modified to offer enough space for Tom Selleck who is 6 ft. 4" tall. The seat rails were relocated and the seat cushion had lost its filler material. It still looked funny as the headrests still ended at the top of his shoulders...

Dashiell Hammett is the true inventor of modern detective fiction and the creator of the private eye, the isolated hero in a world where treachery is the norm. The Continental Op was his great first contribution to the genre and these seven stories, which first appeared in the magazine Black Mask, are the best examples of Hammett's early writing, in which his formidable literary and moral imagination is already operating at full strength. The Continental Op is the dispassionate fat man working for the Continental Detective Agency, modelled on the Pinkerton Agency, whose only interest is in doing his job in a world of violence, passion, desperate action and great excitement.
