Another photo from my trip to Beckford Silk. This is a Silk Printing Block. They were used before screen printing took over. Beckford Silk bought a collection of these blocks from David Evans Ltd who had been silk printers since the 1850s, but they closed about 10 years ago. The blocks were made between the 1890s and the 1920s.

Happily my friend Howard has a new printer, and they're looking good.

Pulling a print from the 5th block through the press on the "OVERLOOK" woodcut. This is the last pass on the first batch. (We are printing this edition in batches due to scale & space constraints)
A perfect day again in Cornwall. Cream teas... chocolate tasting... cheesy chips in Port Isaac and Joe Absolom!! a totally perfect day.
This is my entry for the Rebrick "Modular Buildings Anniversary Contest".
Check it out here ;)
"LEGO has included many printed tiles&decorations in their sets in the past. These tiles represent money, pictures, newspapers, etc. But where do they come from? Of course, from the printing office. There isn't a single printing office in LEGO City or in the Modular Buildings line, so I've decided to build one. There is a printing machine, drawer, table, and some shelves in it. I've included it in the first floor of the Brick Bank, because there is a huge open space which I think is too empty."

In March 2022, I attended a workshop on animal macro photography which was run by Narre Warren Fine Art Printing, and the Animals were brought along by Aussie Wildlife Displays. This image is an image of the Centralian Rough Knobtailed Gecko (Nephrurus amyae) which is a gecko that is native to Australia. This species is endemic to Australia and is restricted to the center of Australia around the Alice Springs area and north to Barrow Creek in the Northern Territory. Captured on 27/03/2022 with a Sony ILCE-7RM4 and 150mm F2.8 G @ 150 mm, 1/160 sec at ƒ / 20, ISO 160 with a studio flash.

An old fabric/wallpaper printing block we bought last week, comprising a heavy wooden block with the design built up in metal shapes. Makes a rather lovely print, as you can see here
This was so labor intensive, having to put every word together, letter by letter, by hand......printing one page at a time......and on top of it all, the letters were backwards.

1980, our neighbour is a master forger, arrested for printing money for a international gang. My mother stands and watches in the back, that was the kind of neighbourhood I grew up in.

Found this "The dictionary of Photography", 13th edition from around 1933ish...some interesting, dangerous, smelly, and many chemical mix recipes. If you wanted to use a "flash" in those days get a mix of powder potassium chlorate and some antimony sulphide! a.k.a. flashlight 😮 don't burn the house down 😄

The former Goole Times Printing Office, with printing works behind. The paper was originally founded in 1853 as monthly publication but by 1869 became weekly, then known as the Goole and Marshland Weekly Times. Ten years later it became The Goole Weekly Times.
Each blue box is a printing press which can print full color both sides of the newsprint paper. The Dallas Morning News has 17 presses, I think. What you don't see is that these presses are 4 stories high. It starts with a roll of paper and the press prints, folds, and collates all in one continuous process. Basically, raw material goes in, a newspaper comes out. Fascinating....
If you have time, please watch this video, especially section 3 which shows the presses as they run.
Let's make a prequel to the sequel, and then an equel.
There's no such thing as equel!
Not? Let's make one!
That doesn't even make sense!
Who cares? this is StarWars, the people will love it!
----------------------
I had this idea when DigiNik13 posted a star wars inspired pic and I thought by myself - took you 40 years to come up with this picture? Wait, they made a second film, didn't they? I admit that I've lost count with all those sequels, prequels and semiquels.

Printing process shot. This print was inspired by Sol LeWitts long instructional titles where its up to the draftsperson to determine line orientation. Nov. 2007
OH BABY A TRIPPLE!
15 - 17 are done, either leavint just 1 for an 18 fig series, or 3 for a 20 fig series, i'mma let you all decide on that one
#15) The Chameleon: Not much to say about this one. Not too muc on printing. Just a torso print. He has duel molded arms in (i think) mango orange and azure (if lego made a deep blusish purple like the toy it would be GREAT) and the same double molding for his boots being azure and red (no prints so it can easily be put on a spiderman homecoming suit) the only new molding would be his shoulder peice. Thats actually based on the bootleg wolverine shoulder peice, cause tbh, i couldn't come up with anyting, so credit where it's due. (Hope to god lego does them fake lego x men and make them real
#16) Shocker: Here we go, Shocker. Duel molded legs in dark red and yellow with front and side printing, regular yellow arms with printing, dark red torso, and his head is a pure yellow head with front and back printing. As for his gauntles, i was gonna do either a new mold, or them other guantlets that sorta look like them but have actual fingers and a lil clock on them? idk? their just gun metal silver with translucent blue studs on them
#17) Jackle: This one is simple, no new molded parts, it's all printed of his furry spandex likeness. Re-useing the manbat hair in neon green (not to be confused with lime green) He has a claw (would come with 2 in the bag) and a spare printless purple potion
again, i'm wrapping up the series with either 1 or 3 figs. and after that, off to work on some edited photos about a kid and a crazy white hair scientist
