The operating principle at that time was to dispatch from the Embarcadero Station westbound trains made up of three coupled cars for two or three destinations. At the western tunnel portals the cars would separate and proceed on their individual lines. The reverse was supposed to happen with eastbound trains, with cars coming together at the tunnel portals, coupling up and proceeding into the tunnels. Unfortunately since this wasn't Switzerland the latter was a rather optimistic expectation and here at West Portal Station on the Twin Peaks Tunnel eastbound cars were turning up in all sorts of combinations requiring continuous activity by the operational staff to sort them out.

„At the heart of the traditional sciences of the cosmos, as well as traditional anthropology, psychology, and aesthetics stands the scientia sacra which contains the principles of these sciences while being primarily concerned with the knowledge of the Principle which is both sacred knowledge and knowledge of the sacred par excellence, since the Sacred as such is none other than the Principle.
The Principle is Reality in contrast to all that appears as real but which is not reality in the ultimate sense. The Principle is the Absolute compared to which all is relative. It is Infinite while all else is finite. The Principle is One and Unique while manifestation is multiplicity. It is the Supreme Substance compared to which all else is accident. It is the Essence to which all things are juxtaposed as form. It is at once Beyond Being and Being while the order of multiplicity is comprised of existents. It alone is while all else becomes, for It alone is eternal in the ultimate sense while all that is externalized partakes of change. It is the Origin but also the End, the alpha and the omega. It is Emptiness if the world is envisaged as fullness and Fullness if the relative is perceived in the light of its ontological poverty and essential nothingness.
These are all manners of speaking of the Ultimate Reality which can be known but not by man as such. It can only be known through the sun of the Divine Self residing at the center of the human soul. But all these ways of describing or referring to the Principle possess meaning and are efficacious as points of reference and support for that knowledge of the Real that in its realized aspect always terminates in the Ineffable and in that silence which is the “reflection” or “shadow” of the nonmanifested aspect of the Principle upon the plane of manifestation. From that unitary point of view, the Principle or the Source is seen as not only the Inward but also the Outward, not only the One but also the essential reality of the many which is but the reflection of the One. At the top of that mountain of unitive knowledge there resides but the One; discrimination between the Real and the unreal terminates in the awareness of the nondual nature of the Real, the awareness which is the heart of gnosis and which represents not human knowledge but God’s knowledge of Himself, the consciousness which is the goal of the path of knowledge and the essence of scientia sacra.”

In this way, Goethe acknowledged the compliment Hegel had paid him and gave recognition to this lynch-pin connecting their work. Hegel replied on 2 August: “... wine has already lent mighty assistance to natural philosophy, which is concerned to demonstrate that spirit is in nature” (1984: 699).The first stage of Hegel’s appropriation of this idea is exhibited in the Phenomenology. Here Hegel presents his subject matter as a series of Gestalten des Bewußtseins (formations of consciousness), that is, a series of complex wholes which have to be grasped conceptually. The Bildungsroman that was presented in the Phenomenology was narrated from three different points of view. Each Gestalt is understood in turn as a way of thinking, a way of living (social formation) and as a constellation of artefacts by means of which people reflect on their activity. At the heart of each Gestalt is a concept understood as rules of inference, which is the ultimate standard of truth within that formation, the court of final appeal, so to speak, which must withstand all sceptical attack if the formation is to survive. This concept, the logically most primitive principle and form of practice, characterises the whole social formation. Here surely we see Herder’s Schwerpunkt, reframed within Hegel’s rational conception.dichotomy between image and idea was plausible, the Urphänomen lacked inherent content from which the relevant science could be scientifically unfolded through self-mediation.

The original painting is for sale.
In this painting I used the fence to create a sense of depth. A principle of perspective drawing is objects get smaller and less defined as they recede into space. For example, the fence post that is closest to us is clearly defined and contains a lot of detail but the ones in the distance are many times smaller and aren't detailed at all.
I enjoyed working with the color in this painting, I used the blue/purple of the shadow side of the fence to contrast with the yellow of the field. I like how the barn provides a small touch of red to the painting.
Jimmy Cauty's Aftermath Dislocation Principle (ADP) model village.
The Aftermath Dislocation Principle (ADP) is a trilogy of artworks by Jimmy Cauty on a nationwide tour across the UK.
Each artwork is a 1:87 scale model housed in a shipping container.
The models are viewed through observation ports in the sides of the containers.
ADP 1 is a 40ft container that houses a vast post-apocalyptic landscape populated only by the police and media crews. The landscape is set somewhere in Bedfordshire and is known as 'Old Bedford'.

Christiaan Huygens was a prominent Dutch mathematician, astronomer, physicist and horologist. His work included early telescopic studies elucidating the nature of the rings of Saturn and the discovery of its moon Titan, the invention of the pendulum clock and other investigations in timekeeping, and studies of both optics and the centrifugal force.
Huygens achieved note for his argument that light consists of waves, now known as the Huygens–Fresnel principle, which two centuries later became instrumental in the understanding of wave-particle duality. He generally receives credit for his discovery of the centrifugal force, the laws for collision of bodies, for his role in the development of modern calculus and his original observations on sound perception (see repetition pitch). Huygens is seen as the first theoretical physicist as he was the first to use formulae in physics.

1. Slider: made of aluminium tube (from a tent): 15mm outer diam, 12 mm inner diam. Slides over rod (2) by means of IGLIDUR sliders (IGUS, JSM081016 iglidur® J Gleitlager, zylindrisch) inserted and glued-in at both ends (see small red arrows).
2. Aluminium hardened rod: IGUS, AWMP08, AluPräzisionswelle, d=08mm, hartbeschichtet, Toleranz: h8, L = 500 mm, cut to 35cm to fit in my bag). At the left side (2a) with a stopper made of an iglidur slider, glued. On the right side (2b) it's widened to 12mm diam, and loosely inserted for about 2cm in tube 7. Tube 7 has 2 fine slits, to make this go easy.
3. double 15 mm rod support. The screw on the left is used to clamp/block the widened part of rod 2.
4. SMALLRIG 15mm Rod Clamp with ARRI Rosette 1686 and SMALLRIG ARRI Rosette Handle for DSLR Cameras 1810. Fixed to rod 7.

The principle of compassion lies at the heart of all religious, ethical and spiritual traditions, calling us always to treat all others as we wish to be treated ourselves. Compassion impels us to work tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of our fellow creatures, to dethrone ourselves from the centre of our world and put another there, and to honour the inviolable sanctity of every single human being, treating everybody, without exception, with absolute justice, equity and respect.
It is also necessary in both public and private life to refrain consistently and empathically from inflicting pain. To act or speak violently out of spite, chauvinism, or self-interest, to impoverish, exploit or deny basic rights to anybody, and to incite hatred by denigrating others - even our enemies - is a denial of our common humanity. We acknowledge that we have failed to live compassionately and that some have even increased the sum of human misery in the name of religion.
We therefore call upon all men and women ~ to restore compassion to the centre of morality and religion ~ to return to the ancient principle that any interpretation of scripture that breeds violence, hatred or disdain is illegitimate ~ to ensure that youth are given accurate and respectful information about other traditions, religions and cultures ~ to encourage a positive appreciation of cultural and religious diversity ~ to cultivate an informed empathy with the suffering of all human beings, even those regarded as enemies.
We urgently need to make compassion a clear, luminous and dynamic force in our polarized world. Rooted in a principled determination to transcend selfishness, compassion can break down political, dogmatic, ideological and religious boundaries. Born of our deep interdependence, compassion is essential to human relationships and to a fulfilled humanity. It is the path to enlightenment, and indispensible to the creation of a just economy and a peaceful global community.

La compasión nos impulsa a trabajar sin cansancio para aliviar el sufrimiento de nuestros semejantes; nos motiva a dejar de lado el egoísmo y aprender a compartir y nos pide honrar la inviolable santidad de cada ser humano, tratando a todos, sin excepción, con absoluta justicia, equidad y respecto.
Es además necesario en la vida pública y en la privada abstenerse de causar dolor de manera sistemática y categórica, actuar o hablar de manera violenta, obrar con mala intención, manejarse priorizando el interés personal, explotar o denegar los derechos básicos e incitar al odio denigrando a los otros – aunque sean enemigos - actuar de manera contraria, implica negar nuestra humanidad. Por eso pedimos a hombres y mujeres ~ restaurar la compasión al centro de la moralidad y de la religión ~ volver al antiguo principio que afirma que cualquier interpretación de la escritura que incite a la violencia, el odio o al desprecio, es ilegítima ~ garantizar a los jóvenes una información positiva y respetuosa sobre otras tradiciones, religiones y culturas ~ estimular a una positiva apreciación de la diversidad cultural y religiosa ~ cultivar una empatía consecuente con el sufrimiento de los seres humanos, hasta con aquellos que consideramos enemigos.
En nuestro mundo polarizado hay una necesidad urgente de transformar la compasión en una fuerza clara luminosa y dinámica. Arraigada en la determinación de trascender el egoísmo, la compasión puede romper las fronteras políticas, dogmáticas, ideológicas y religiosas. Nacida de nuestra profunda interdependencia, la compasión es esencial para las relaciones humanas y para la realización de la humanidad. The Principle is Reality in contrast to all that appears as real but which is not reality in the ultimate sense. The Principle is the Absolute compared to which all is relative. It is Infinite while all else is finite. The Principle is One and Unique while manifestation is multiplicity. It is the Supreme Substance compared to which all else is accident. It is the Essence to which all things are juxtaposed as form. It is at once Beyond-Being and Being while the order of multiplicity is comprised of existents. It alone IS while all else becomes, for It alone is eternal in the ultimate sense, while all that is externalized partakes of change. It is the Origin but also the End, the alpha and the omega. It is Emptiness if the world is envisaged as fullness and Fullness if the relative is perceived in the light of its ontological poverty and essential nothingness.
These are all manners of speaking of the Ultimate Reality which can be known but not by man as such. It can only be known through the sun of the Divine Self residing at the center of the human soul.
But all these ways of describing or referring to the Principle possess meaning and are efficacious as points of reference and support for that knowledge of the Real that in its realized aspect always terminates in the Ineffable and in that silence which is the “reflection” or “shadow” of the non-manifested aspect of the Principle upon the plane of manifestation.
From that unitary point of view, the Principle or the Source is seen as not only the Inward but also the Outward, not only the One but also the essential reality of the many which are but the reflection of the One.
At the top of that mountain of unitive knowledge there resides but the One; discrimination between the Real and the unreal terminates in the awareness of the nondual nature of the Real, the awareness which is the heart of gnosis and which represents not human knowledge but God’s knowledge of Himself, the consciousness which is the goal of the path of knowledge and the essence of scientia sacra.

I went against my principle of photographing a pre-2001 vehicle with Charles Wright reg. plates, but when presented with something as rare/stunning as this, I had to make an exception!
Built by Karmann (of Volkswagen cabrio fame), 1975 was the final year in which the New Six CS (E9) was made.
The fact that it is RHD strongly suggests it's arrived from the Channel Islands.
Registered in S.W. London on the 9th March 2009, it has one previous owner.

The Golden Number Ratio Principle: Dr. E’s Golden Ratio Principle: The golden ratio exalts beauty because the number is a characteristic of the mathematically and physically most efficient manners of growth and distribution, on both evolutionary and purely physical levels. The golden ratio ensures that the proportions and structure of that which came before provide the proportions and structure of that which comes after. Robust, ordered growth is naturally associated with health and beauty, and thus we evolved to perceive the golden ratio harmonies as inherently beautiful, as we saw and felt their presence in all vital growth and life—in the salient features and proportions of humans and nature alike, from the distribution of our facial features and bones to the arrangements of petals, leaves, and sunflowers seeds. As ratios between Fibonacci Numbers offer the closest whole-number approximations to the golden ratio, and as seeds, cells, leaves, bones, and other physical entities appear in whole numbers, the Fibonacci Numbers oft appear in nature’s elements as “growth’s numbers.” From the dawn of time, humanity sought to salute their gods in art and temples exalting the same proportion by which all their vital sustenance and they themselves had been created—the golden ratio.
Ansel Adams is not only my favorite photographer, but he is one of the greatest photographers and artists of all time. And just like great artists including Michelangelo, Monet, Degas, Renoir, Leonardo da Vinci, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Botticelli, and Picasso, Ansel used the golden ratio and divine proportions in his epic art.
Not so long ago I discovered golden regions in many of his famous public domain his 8x10 aspect ratio photographs. I call these golden harmony regions "regions of golden action" or "ROGA"S, as seen here:

This is a shot of god Apollo’s statue on one of the two pillars flanking the Academy of Athens (the other statue is of goddess Athena). Both pillars are crowned by Ionic order capitals. Apollo plays the lyre; the statue was scupted by neo-classical sculptor Leonidas Drosis. The Academy’s building was constructed in 1859–1885 under Ernst Ziller’s supervision (architectural designs by Theophil Hansen) and largely funded by Simon Sinas.
The Academy of Athens is Greece's national academy, and the highest research establishment in the country. It was established in 1926, with its founding principle tracing back to the historical Academy of Plato.

The principle of the Av-Matoran, Purity stands for a life devoting to the avoidance of distraction and corruption. The principle stems from the purity of Light itself, an element untouched by any force of nature.
Purity leads to the skill of Focus, allowing one to more accurately view the situation, without the many distractions of the environment. Focus allows the Av-Matoran to reach a state of mind where they are all their senses are blocked out, and all their attention is focussed on the problem they’re facing.
The ZIS 110 Series was in principle based on the 1942 Packard Super Eight 180 series.
The development of the successor of the ZIS 101 series started in 1942. Because the Sovjet Union joined the allied forces against Nazi-Germany since 1942, the Sovjets gained access to Western industry and technics. Machinery could be taken over from Packard because production of civil cars stopped in 1942.
The first 110 prototype was ready in July 1945. There were some style differences with the Packard example, like the absence of the running board, and the wrap around chrome strips on the front wings.
ZIS means Zavod Imini Stalina, or Stalin factory. After the death of Josef Stalin (1878-1953) this name stayed till 1956, when Russian contemporary history was suddenly regarded differently. The brand name was replaced by ZIL, after Ivan Likhachov (1896-1956). He was an important director of the ZIS factory.
The ZIS 110 was mainly used for official occasions, and by head of states from Russian allied countries.
This Russian ZIS 110B was part of an exhibition about the former communist state limousines. In the context of openness of state bodies in the new Czech democracy, President Václav Havel (1936-2011) decided to show the official state limousines to the people. Note the chrome bar at the back of the front seats. Officials could find stabile support in a driving car by holding on tightly to the bar.
