ON a gey dreich day in Rothesay Harbour, Isle of Bute, the luxury cruise ship Hebridean Princess sails away..
She started life as the MacBrayne car ferry and Royal Mail Ship, initially RMS then MV Columba (a 6th century saint), based in Oban for the first 25 years of her life, carrying up to 600 passengers, and 50 cars, between the Scottish islands.
Refitted in luxury she carries 49 guests, and 38 crew.
Crown Princess is a Grand Class ship owned and operated by Princess Cruises, with 19 passenger decks and accommodation for over 3000

Victorian pub with much cut glass and gilded mirrors, decorative tiles and moulded plaster. Even the gents is ornately fitted out. Grade II* Listed. For more detail go here.

The Princess Louise is a fabulous Victorian pub that has one of the best interiors in London. Built in 1872, the pub had a refit in 1892 in which no expense was spared. The decoration is formidable: etched mirrors line the walls, surrounded by polychromatic tiling, elaborate terracotta friezes, patterned ceilings, marble pillars with gilt capitals, tiled floors (mosaics in the corridors) and stained and painted glass. Even the toilets are spectacular.
