i thought i was following the "pretty in pink" tank top pattern by Amanda Reed, but i was extremely preoccupied by a singularly stressful thing that happened and ended up with a completely different neckline-- thus, perplexed in purple.

If you think this is ridiculous, blame Doc. Peer pressure can make you do wacky things. :D

The model here is the ever-handsome Matthew, posing with my sis's John Deere trucker hat. Oh yes. That's how we roll in this house. :D

Daddy found the frame for this rocking horse at the dig store. It was dingy and missing pieces. He repaired it, painted it and added pink.

A Rose (Seduction) with a Washing Beetle.

There are more kinds of beetles than any other group of animals. Almost a third of all animal species are beetles. In Australia alone, almost 23 000 different species have been named, but there may be as many as 80 000 Australian beetle species. Beetles belong to the Order Coleoptera.

Beetles are one of the most easily recognised groups of insects, despite their remarkable diversity of colour and shape. Even young children are able to identify lady beetles and christmas beetles.

Beetles are one of the most successful groups of organisms on the planet, occupying most habitats and taking advantage of many food sources. One of the major factors contributing to the success of beetles is their compact body design and in particular their tough protective front wings.

This beetle is a Washing Beetle, Phyllotocus rufipennis (Scarabaeidae).

Thousands of Washing Beetles emerge in summer to feed on eucalypt blossoms but often mistakenly swarm on other white objects, such as drying washing, tennis players or even brides and roses. Info from Queensland Museum.

something for each month

We have a few Burning Bush shrubs. In the fall the leaves turn a flaming vivid red. One day after a brief rain shower I shot some photos of the leaves. I used my photo "Red Burning Bush" to make a composite with this design as the final result. "Burning Bush Floral Design", by Joy Nichols , gives the effect of a quilted piece. Photos were arranged in such a way as to create circular repeat pattern design. If the piece is looked at closely Burning Bush leaves can be seen.

because we are deep in the throes of readying things for the yard sale on saturday, my one outing yesterday was to buy a dolly/hand truck at home depot; but i snuck in a few pictures and chatted with a nice guy about adventures in the garden department....

Another shot of apple blossoms from my trespassing jaunt a couple weeks ago.

This is the first time I've had such good luck capturing a pink water lily. Most of the time I only see white or blue ones. They are all beautiful, but this one was spectacular.

Once or twice a year I go to Aimes Park to capture these beautiful flowers. They are among my favorites, and I'm never disappointed, no matter what color they are.
