Dance of the Flamingo ~ Davie, Florida
I'll try and describe what they're doing here; They bob and weave and do their little dance to show their dominance to the females...and to each other. Pretty sure these are the three biggest males. Anyway, it's fun to watch. They peck and carry on. They can't really hurt each other as they haven't any teeth and their curved bills are rounded and fairly blunt. Get their point across, though! Thanks for looking.

A South Florida beauty, there are two parts to the chemistry that makes a flamingo pink; the carotenoids in the food that provide the pigments, and there are the specific enzymes produced by the species which utilize those pigments, providing its brilliant pink color.

I planted this pink dogwood at my old house nearly thirty years ago. As long as I lived there it never grew much, and rarely if ever had a bloom on it no matter what I did for it. Now I go back nearly ever year to photograph the flowers.

In voller Blüte stehen jetzt alle Kastanienbäume in unserer Umgebung. Es regnet andauernd und es ist auch ein bisschen zu windig, das trübt die Freude zu fotografieren ein wenig :-)

The saucer magnolias in DC are my favorite - even better than the cherry blossoms in my opinion. These are at the Enid A. Haupt Garden at the Smithsonian castle!
Its all starting to blosssom and bloom and we've got 3 or 4 dry sunny days ahead of us... Spring may just have arrived a week early...I love blossom !!
This spoonbill in magnificent breeding colors graced us with his presence during our visit earlier in the week to the local bird rookery. Most of the nesting birds there are white and I think this one wanted to dazzle us with a bit more color! It worked for me :-) He will be making multiple appearances in the days to come.
An unusual flower in the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, England.
Any ideas as to what the plant is called ?
Thanks to larygon, who states the flower is a "primula vialii " !!
