I am not a bird specialist, so I don't know the name of this kind of bird. The photo was taken at Animal Kingdom Park.

Taken in Beatty & Kelley's restaurant at The Old West Festival near Williamsburg, Ohio.
When I entered the restaurant, I noticed that it was basically empty except for this pretty lady working behind the counter. I asked her if I could take her photo. She agreed and asked if I wanted her to sit on the counter for the picture. I said "sure". She climbed up and I began snapping away. How could I miss with such an attractive friendly subject as this?
Another little rose ....

A fishing fly (lure) which I bought at a car boot sale in the UK. Would you go for this if you were a trout? Canon EOS 350D, Tamron 70-300mm (300mm macro), f/20, 2.5 seconds, ISO 400, tripod. Lighting from two 10 watt halogen spotlights, one slightly behind the fly and one behind the camera, both above, dark blue tshirt for the background.
It would have been good to get a little stronger light on the eyes to make them stand out more... I learn a little every time.
Vikki is the perfect travelling companion. I've met pretty girls before, I've met funny people, I've met people who are interesting and make you smile. Vikki is all of those things, wrapped up into a bundle of fun and energy. She made a two and a half hour train journey feel like two and a half minutes. It is incredible how entertaining it can be watching somebody brush their teeth on the move.
Typical of the Scottish people I have met, Vikki is very down to earth. No airs and graces. Just honest, open and upfront. When Mr Right appears in Vikki's life he will be a very lucky man. I did suggest that Scousers make the best boyfriend material so somewhere some lucky bloke from back home owes me a pint.
Of course Vikki agreed to be my next stranger. In fact, when she heard about the 100 strangers project she was so interested she said she was getting a camera and going to have a go. Watch out society at large! I think she thought I was going to use my camera phone to take the picture so when I opened my bag and a DSLR appeared I think she was a little surprised. I fired off a couple of shots with my 60mm macro lens that was already on the camera. Vikki thought these looked a little too close up so I chnaged lens and had a go with my 50mm. Results from the nifty 50 are below in the comments. Vikki preferred the slighty further away image but with a face like this she can easily pull off the close up. I frear a close of me wouldn't fare so well.
I've had a couple of poor images now, and my first "stranger refusal" so it was a delight to meet Vikki and have her help me continue with my 100 strangers project on Flickr. If you ever see this Vikki, then thank you ever so much for restoring my confidence and getting me back on track with the project. A true angel.
I managed to acquire 5 of one of my most sought after Bratz dolls ever...Feelin' Pretty Dana! Words cannot express how lucky I feel!
I had first became obsessed with this doll back in 2011 when I realized how gorgeous she was. I didn't get my hands on her until the Fall of 2014. I found her in a random lot on eBay. She didn't come with any of her original outfits or accessories, but her face and hair were in very good condition. And I was content to just have her and dress her in whatever I had.
Then, in August of last year, I came across her on eBay, brand new in the box. I hadn't seen her in such great condition in quite awhile. I figured I wouldn't see her again for another two years if I let her pass me by, so I bade with (almost) everything I had. I won her for $99 exactly. Pricey, but for me, it was absolutely worth it.
And again, I felt content to have her (but dare not open her)...at least until I saw another one of her listed. This was around November. This particular one was loose, wearing only part of her second top with the skirt and her black heels. At the time, I was certain I was never gong to open my boxed FP Dana, so I bade on this loose doll and won her. I was over the moon, because it was a joy getting to see her in her second outifit (most of it anyway).
From that point on, I decided I really wanted the rest of her things, so I began to spend hours on eBay looking at as many random lots as possible. In December, I did manage to find one lot that had FP Dana in it. She was in very bad shape, but I didn't care because she came with both layers of her second top, her first pair of pants and her flip-flops! I felt that was a major score.
Then, again, in mid January. I found her again, this time new in box...again. I figured I was already past the point of doll gluttony, so I bade in the auction for her...and won, no contest.
And that's that's the story behind this particular group of Danas which have become the pride and joy of my entire doll collection.
Heh, if you bothered to read all this, you deserve a medal and my deepest thanks. Thank you very much!
In the morning light. I was pretty sure that I wouldn't get a good shot with this lens. I was trying to talk myself into nice zoom, this being a cheap lens.
I haven't used this lens for a very long time, it came in a package with some deal when I purchased my OMD EM 5 many years ago.
I was tickled to death with the shots.
It takes more work with this lens as it is slow and hates to focus in poor light, but I got it to work.
I reminded myself that I am trying to carry less gear than more gear!
Although I have visions of taking amazing wild life photos with a super duper cool Monster Zoom Lens.
Alas, I don't think I need one!
