I really liked the way the pink from the blossom was reflected in the normally white spots on this Great Spangled Fritillary.

# 25 in my 2015 butterfly count.

My Easter tulips lasted 2 weeks!

I like this portrait of a pretty wild dog!

I went to another grandchild birthday party on Saturday. As usual, took my camera and walked around their yard in the heat of the day to see if anything alive was out there. In a back corner of the side of the house was a small Mimosa/Persian Silk Tree. Right above my head was a cicada so took some shots of it. Turned out to be my 2nd time to find this particular species & my best shots ever. Had no idea it had such beautiful eyes. Love the deep green veins on the wings too.

U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce delegates open 21st annual convention. Washington, D.C., June 19. Delegates numbering 2,000 met today at the opening session of the 21st annual convention of the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce. Serious matters were discussed by the male element but the girls decided to lighten the minds and open the eyes of all beholders by following the vagaries of the weather, one day cool, another day warm so-o-o the photographer brought home a 'hot cool' picture - left to right: Margaret Scott, Nome, Alaska; Betty [...], St. Petersburg, Florida; Reuben Coleman, Daytona Beach, Florida; and Minook Motschman, Fairbanks, Alaska.

Haven't used that title for a while. Great song from the Psychedelic Furs and one of my favourite films from the 80's. What ever happened to Molly Ringwald?

Anyway, back to the female Hoopoe pausing for a brief moment in the hunt for cricket larvae on the lawn.

I always think it looks better in a bird portrait to have the body pointing one way and the head the other, maybe it is more balanced?

I was lying on the lawn for this shot to try and get that all important birds eye level but also to throw out of focus as much of the boring grass.

Algarve, Portugal.

Waking up at Ocean Cove with no fog and beautiful sunshine was certainly a surprise. Finding this Anna's hummingbird 'pretty in pink' feasting on Mexican sage was a tantalizing vision.

Thank you for your comments and visit...have a wonderful day.

This was in Abisko in January 2016. I so want it to be winter again so I can travel north and enjoy the cold, silence and swirling colours

Look Flynn, I told you last week it's spring now and the flowers are growing! And here they are! FLOWERS!

Hmm... yes, Hooman, I see 'em. Flowers! Pfft, I don't know why you hoomans like 'em so much though. Lookin' at them is 'bout as interesting as watchin' the grass grow...

Well, you know, flowers come in pretty colours and some of them smell nice too!

Why do the colours matter? All look the same to me! An' what do hoomans know about smells? You lot are so unsophisticated at sniffin' stuff, that you can't even appreciate the scent of fox poop, so I'm not sure how you think you can correctly judge flowers by their smell!!

Erm, I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that one Flynn! Ah well, shall we head for home then?

Yes. Or.... actually, NO! Wait, Hooman! I have remembered. I DO like flowers!

Oh? You do?

Yes. Because when I am next to flowers, you always point that clicky box at me an' then you give me snacks. Lots of snacks. So. I will pose here for you now. Get my food ready, quickly!

Spotted these spring flowers just outside the main doors of our town's old church. I thought I'd get a pic of Flynn by the flowers, for the "pop of colour" challenge but then I had to try & work out a good way to get him & them in frame together, because the container they're growing in is quite tall! Flynn solved the issue by himself when he hopped up on his back legs & propped his front paws on the edge of the container. Then I got given the "hurry up & feed me!" face. Once I got a couple of photos & Flynn had his snack, he wouldn't stand up there again! Haha, I don't think Flynn appreciates posies for their prettiness, or their scents but he does seem to have some idea that being near flowers often gets him food!

There was an outdoor night portrait activity , we invited the long legs girl 許玲玲 to go to Taipei ximen street to take picture , 許玲玲got pretty face , big eyes ,sweet smile, nice figure with great breast , small waist , round hip and slim long legs, perfect body curve line, when she wore a sexy fashion skirt cloth to show her personal sexy style of pose , she is so charming and gorgeous ,thank 許玲玲,she did her best model job

One of my phals. Like many, these were my "starter" orchids. When the first one rebloomed, I got another, and then another, then stepped out on a limb and got a Nobile-type dendrobium, and on and on it went. I am now a full blown orchid addict!

One of the last photos of Villy I could take. He died about two weeks later... :(

Another Camellia bud fighting off the frost. They're usually pretty resilient.
