Macro Mondays theme - Currency
Whenever we go on a trip we always try to find the machines to press a pattern on a penny for a little souvenir. We have quite a collection of them. Most of the time the pattern of the penny on the underside can't be seen anymore, but I found a couple in our stash that still had the pattern and its round shape. Used a mixture of natural and artificial light.
Happy Macro Monday and stay warm everyone!

From a period starting in the summer of 1988 a couple of 3-car Tyseley Class 117's were sent to Newton Heath to cover Pacer diagrams due to ongoing reliability issues.
Here set T308 51413, 59509 and 51371 waits time prior to departing with the 16.21 to Chester via Stockport.
* T308 was the last Class 117 to remain in service on BR and following withdrawal in 1996, the driving cars were eventually converted to water jetting vehicles for use with Chiltern Railways and returned to BR DMU Green livery.
They were finally withdrawn in 2015, and both cars have survived into preservation.
As I pressed the shutter to start this bracket I looked up and noticed the sign for King Arthur Carrousel was spelled with two "r's." My initial reaction was that it was spelled wrong, or maybe it was some kind of strange British spelling. After a little googling I found both spellings are in fact correct, and both are relatively widely used. In fact, the carousel at California Adventure, King Triton's Carousel, is spelled with one 'r,' I'm not sure how or why Disney chose to spell carousel differently between Disneyland and California Adventure.
One of the cool things about photo post processing, especially in HDR workflows, is when parts of the photo become visible in ways that were not visible to the naked eye, and even weren't visible in the individual raw images. The sky in this scene was an ugly flat orange, both in the raw image and to my eyes at the time. After HDR merging and color correction for the orange lights, some texture showed up in the clouds, and the sky turned to a blue/black color that's much closer to what I expect a night sky to look like. It's pretty cool what can be done with simple adjustments in modern post processing tools.
This is a close-up photo of the joining edge of two pressed board panels that was once covered by a board that was also stained brown. There is an optical illusion happening in the edge line that is associated with eye movement - highlights of light zipping from side to side.
"I want to hold you close
Skin pressed against me tight
Lie still, and close your eyes girl
So lovely, it feels so right
I want to hold you close
Soft breasts, beating heart
As I whisper in your ear
I want to fucking tear you apart"

Dried and pressed leaves for the Crazy Tuesday challenge, "looking back on 2023." I chose a theme from quite recently, "natural textures/structure." I've always been fascinated by leaves and the amazing structures and textures one sees there. This year I decided to try something new to me but certainly an ancient practice -- drying and pressing leaves. I was quite pleased with the results. Happy Crazy Tuesday!
