Berzé-le-Châtel at the end of the Val Lamartinien is a stunning medieval fortress built from the 10th century, superbly preserved, and with magnificent gardens.
From the top of its ramparts, the view extends over the entire Val Lamartinien practically as far as Mâcon, and the Roches de Solutré and Vergisson stand out in the distance.

The news from Mexico where monarchs overwinter was not good going into 2021 as their numbers declined over 25% from 2020 and fell to a level where extinction of the monarch is a likely endgame if we don't take steps to protect this butterfly and its habitat now. So far, Big Ag, greed and money seem to be more important to society than the monarch.

Zoar is a village in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, that was founded by German religious separatists in 1817, and survived as a communal settlement for more than 80 years. Many of the original buildings still exist, as does a large public garden that occupies a central area of the village. The gardens, part of which are seen here, are said to be preserved and maintained as they were in the 1800s.

This barn is on Mormon Row near Jackson Hole Wyoming. I've often been to the two most photographed barns, but this one is a bit further down the old dirt road and whenever there visiting, it always had buffalo nearby. I was thrilled this visit because I could go right up and around the barn. I also love that all three barns are being restored!

Phylis Haenle Preserve, Grass Lake, Michigan.
Panorama created from twenty two images stitched together in Capture One
We visited the Haenle preserve to witness the migration of sand hill cranes. While we did observe about 25 cranes fly in from surrounding fields where they forage during the day, they landed on the opposite side of the marsh. Even with a long telephoto lens, they were too far away to get any good shots. But, the weather was fantastic.

The SF 52 Akurey has been sited on the quayside in Höfn and is described as a monument boat/being preserved. I have struggled to find information online, but she appears to have been in service as a fishing boat from 1963 until 1992. Her deck is sometimes open for tours but our out of season visit meant that this wasn't the case.
John’s family is living in a tiny flat. That would not be too bad. But unfortunately John is longing for a dog to play and fool arount with. There isn’t any space for a dog in the small attic. How can John’s dream come true?

I feel that it is impossible to preserve anything completely. I think about how much is lost from the moments in our lives. For example, take the first time you hold your babies - you may take pictures and video but the physical sensations can't be captured. The softness of skin, the sweet smells, the physical exhaustion, nervous energy, and feelings of panic and pride. I guess it's a good thing we can't relive it all because how many moments would we want filling up our head. So we do the best we can to hold on to the important and favorite memories but eventually they start to fade away much like my leaves and flowers.
More feathered friends from the Riparian Preserve in Gilbert Arizona. A great place to get out and walk on the many trails.

A Male Slaty Skimmer taken at Reynolds Nature Preserve, Morrow County, Georgia, USA on the 29th July 2018.
Back in Atlanta for the week with work... arrived at Reynolds just after 6pm and still found 8 species of dragon flying!
After dealing with a career filled with deadlines and pressures I try to avoid those situations now. When I participate in art shows I often get asked to come out and photograph people's barns but I rarely do. But a family of siblings asked me to photograph this deteriorating heritage of their great-grandfather who built this barn in the late 1800s and I found it hard to turn them down.
