Prediction said a "dusting" of snow. We got a foot!!

Don't get me started on today.

UPDATE 5/13: Posted today with my guest post on the Muni Diaries site: www.munidiaries.com/2010/05/13/predictions-may-not-be-valid/

Text written with the predictive function of my mobile phone's virtual keyboard.

Greetings Stumblers! Ahalanui, on the Puna coast of the Big Island of Hawaii is home to an incredible volcanically heated hot pool with water that is nearly body temperature. It also has some excellent coastal scenery and large breaking waves. Sunrise is the best time to see the drama at its best! No HDR.

The Story

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seemed like it would be an easy sunrise to shoot. Merely go around the hot pool, over the top of the rock wall blocking the ocean, and around to the cliffs and lava pools. However, the rocks are extremely slippery and you don't expect that when all of the lava is just a few decades old at most and very sharp. So, you walk along experiencing a reliable grippy surface and suddenly it is as slippery as ice! So if you go here, especially in the dark before sunrise, be careful!

The problem gets worse because I wanted to get close to the little reflecting pools in the foreground, but it was difficult to even move, let alone run from these unobstructed waves which pound this spot every 20 seconds or so.

The weather was warm and about as perfect as it can get, and this can lull you into a false sense of security. I mean, how can there be danger in such a paradise? Well, with no coral reef in front of many Hawaian beaches, it seems like every 4th wave is a sleeper wave, so be careful photographing any non-reef beach. Seriously!

Anyway, even if you do not make it to the beach during the day (the hot-pool lifeguard has a bullhorn to keep people away from the waves), definitely visit this hot pool. It has an opening for the 78 degree (28c) ocean water to mix with the 94 degree (34c) hot pool water. Suddenly, the oean water feels as cold as California! The breeze off the ocean is cool enough so that you can relax in the hot water without getting too hot. It is perfect!

Simply the best way to scout out locations that there is. You can see sun angles and pre-visualize light under lots of different conditions. Sometimes you can actually pre-compose your shots! This has saved me many thousands of vertical feet of climbing by avoiding spots with blocked views etc.

- predictions of flooding are to exceed Brisbane's great flood of 1974

- tomorrow and Thursday's high tides will determine if history will be rewritten

- wish us luck in water logged inner city Brisbane

The predictions were for us to have an extremely cold winter with more snow than any year in the last 50.

So far it's not come true on the west coast. Lots of rain.

This image is a must in large on black.

Happy 2012 everyone!

My first set of 2012 predictions are: Chickens, Parrots, and creepy Irish dictators with hooks will take over the world.

Call it a foreshadowing of things to come ;)

For Future Use and Teh Lols

A brief foray now into my film archive. I've been posting some recent colour conversions from digital RAW files, and a few shots that are very close to black and white in colour, but here's a true b&w photo, from more than 40 years ago. I was developing my own negatives in those days, hence the heavy grain (I would freely experiment with different films and developers). All I remember was walking along the sidewalk one April day and seeing this image whole: the graffiti and the building behind it, the meaning obvious, a bleak prediction. My job as photographer is to observe and record. One shutter click, then move on. Nitty gritty city. Sadly, the message has been prophetic for a lot of people.

Predictions (2009). My interpretation (2014).

What a fortune cookie! I am wishing my flickr friends a very Happy New Year! (I like this on black!)

With all the problems the World is facing, it can be unsettling to the

mind. These are the ten predictions that are true!

1. The Bible will still have all the answers.

2. Prayer will still be the most powerful thing on Earth..

3. The Holy Spirit will still move.

4. God will still honor the praises of His people.

5. There will still be God-anointed preaching.

6. There will still be singing of praise to God.

7. God will still pour out blessings upon His people.

8. There will still be room at the Cross.

9. Jesus will still love you.

10. Jesus will still save the lost when they come to Him.

Isn't it great To Remember Who Is Really In Control, and that; "the

Word of the Lord endures forever." ( 1 Peter 1:25 )

Sometimes we need the reminder of just "WHO" is really in control.

Live simply, Love generously, Care deeply, Speak kindly. Leave the rest with God.

From the June 1971 Miroir du Cyclisme Tour de France preview edition

So with the new DLC trailer that was released on Friday, there were some silhouettes teasing future DLC characters. Now you would just think that these silhouettes are just placeholders and aren't really what the characters would be. But after doing some research, I guess the DLC characters for Mortal Kombat X was teased the exact same way and their silhouettes lined up with who the characters actually were. So I'm going into this assuming the silhouettes are accurate to the actual character being teased. So I'm just going to go down from left to right and say who I think they are.

Beast Boy - Now I chose beast boy because this character has a rather slim and male figure, which lines up with Beast Boy. Also Beast Boy is a highly requested character, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's one of these characters.

Black Manta - Come on, this is Black Manta. And before you pull the "No way he's in that stage transition in Atlantis!" Well tell that to Brainiac in his own stage and Martian Manhunter in the first Injustice. It's probably going to be like if you choose Black Manta, Ocean Master or something will take his place in the stage transition.

Rorschach - Now it's been teased quite a bit that Watchmen characters could be in Injustice, and the figure looks like it's wearing a fedora with the points on the top of his head, and some sort of trench coat, like what Rorschach wears.

Etrigan the Demon - Now obviously this is a bigger character, and I just wanted Etrigan, there was no thought put into this one. Some are saying it could be Azrael, which I can buy too.

MARTIAN MANHUNTER - That's right, that ain't Raiden! Now the reason I chose Martian Manhunter is because I feel like this is a troll, it happened before with a DLC character in Mortal Kombat X with some sort of shape shifting character, and I will fight for Martian Manhunter to be back in Injustice until I die!

Mera - Now I chose Mera because this character is obviously female and if you see the top of her head, there's some points, which could be her crown.

Well those are my predictions, make sure to leave your's in the comments! And if you do, leave them in the same order I did so I know which character corresponds with silhouette.

Our predictions of Millennium décor being exposed to broad daylight were unfortunately coming true with a quickness on the afternoon of week 2, day 4. Adding insult to injury (which is a good bit of what a demolition is all about, I'm learning!), the 'n' was knocked off the Garden Market wall sign in the process of the roof coming down. And in the right of the photo: some sort of "Kroger associate values" poster can still be seen on the wall of what was once the associate break room. Echoing what several others have said already: seeing all these furnishings, décor, etc. coming down with the demolition is quite strange, and sad all at the same time.

Our weather has been so warm that it feels like springtime. There are predictions for colder wintry weather next week.

I see in colour and find B&W difficult. I really concentrated on the comp and what would make a good square crop. It is really difficult because the sky does not always conform to the vision. Olga

The Short-term Prediction Research and Transition (SPoRT) Center at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, is leading the way in transforming advanced research into practical tools to enhance weather forecasting and decision-making, including hurricane prediction. As hurricane season peaks, SPoRT scientists at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center use satellite data like lightning, sea surface temperature, and Dust RGB to revolutionize storm tracking and prediction

In this image, data from the GOES-16 satellite is used to create a map of dust in July 24. Dark red indicates regions of cold clouds. The light magenta color over the central Atlantic Ocean highlights a region of dust associated with the Saharan Air Layer, which originates in Africa and helps to suppress tropical cyclone activity in the Atlantic Ocean as it moves westward toward the Caribbean.

Altocumulus clouds have several patchy white or gray layers, and seem to be made up of many small rows of fluffy ripples. They are lower than cirrus clouds, but still quite high. They are made of liquid water, but they don’t often produce rain.
