Robber flies come in many varieties, some mimicking flies, some mimicking Bumble bees and some mimicking Wasps and Hornets. It's these disguising's that fool their prey in perhaps accepting their approach.
It is said that robber flies only land on leaves, as seen here. I did once see a robber fly land on a flower, but that visit was brief.
They will typically attack their prey in flight, stabbing it with a very sharp stylus proboscis. They avoid contact with humans and pose no real threat, however if captured and mishandled they can inflict a painful stab wound.
Behind Isabella is the alien protagonist from the film Predator, a 1987 science fiction, action and horror film directed by John McTiernan and starring a certain well-known body builder cum actor turned California Governor. This film effectively sums up his official policy on illegal immigration in the United States.
Sloe Fair, Chichester
----------
The earliest record of the holding of a fair in Chichester is the grant by Henry I, about 1107-8, to Ralph, Bishop of Chichester, of a fair to be held for eight days, at a time to be fixed by the Bishop. The date selected was the feast of St. Faith the Virgin, whose cult was strong in the city. The name "Sloe Fair" seems to have been derived from the sloe tree which stood in the field near the North Gate of the city where the fair was held.
Although the form of the fair has varied with time, the tradition of Sloe Fair continues to the present day. On 20 October each year, a large funfair is held in the Northgate car park for one day and Cicestrians enjoy themselves, as in the past. During World War II, a single caravan was parked on the site so that the right to hold Sloe Fair would not lapse.

1st day of painting for my Predator. I found the Scab red I usually use for an undercoat to be to bright when used over a large area so I mixed it with scorched brown. This had the additional benefit of being a thicker coat of paint. When I'd finished I felt it was to red and so decided to add the Charcoal in various places all over. I like where it's going... ^_^
