This male white-necked jacobin hummingbird (Florisuga mellivora) showcases its incredible agility with a sharp maneuver mid-flight. Hummingbirds can rotate their wings 180 degrees, allowing them to fly backward, upside down, and change direction in the blink of an eye.
Seen on a overcast muggy day moored up on the River Mersey at Birkenhead with Liverpool's world famous Liver Building in the background. The bright colours of the newly repainted ship jump out at you from the subdued surroundings.

I saw him working through the open door of his tiny space.
"May I make some photos?", I asked politely.
"Go ahead," he answered and went straight on back to his work. He didn't lift his head, not even when I walked out and thanked him kindly.

The U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration, the Blue Angels performed at the Defenders of Freedom Offutt Air Show this past weekend. The Blue Angels are scheduled to perform 68 demonstrations at 34 locations across the U.S. in 2014.
This was a backyard photo. What a thrill to see them right over your house. This was taken at 110mm which gives you an idea of just how close they were. The noise was unbelievable.

Quonset State Airport Airshow and Open House 2015
The Blue Angles at the Rhode Island Airshow 2015. Traffic was horrendous getting to the show. Especially on Route 403. It took one hour to drive the last six miles to the airport. Even watched the Canadian Snowbirds performing while on the highway. Trekked a two mile round trip on foot with camera equipment and tripod, I didn't use due to the crowds. The icing on the cake was seeing this spectacular team perform at day's end. Beautiful weather and lots of great performers.

I wasn't sure whet I was going to use for this challenge and then I thought about these which I used recently.
Belonged to my Father although I don't know what he used them for. They are worn on the head and the magnifier is hinged to lift up out of the way when not using. Provides hands free magnification and so it is very useful. This is in its original box, the bottom of which is velvet lined for protection. I used them recently when looking for that dreaded broken needle inside my machine. Ideal for close intricate work potentially jewellery work
For all of you who have expressed their concern for our safety following Hurricane Sandy, I thank you all for your kindness and support. Our region has been knocked down but we will get back up and put things back together. We will RESTORE THE SHORE because we are JERSEY STRONG!
As some of you are aware many of my images have been taken at Cattus Island They are in dire need of some assistance due to the impact of Sandy. They have lost an incredible amount of equipment. For those who might like to help them out they have started a fund at Go Fund Me to offset some of the damage.

I have just had my camera body, extender and lens matched by the UK Canon Service Centre. I am very pleased with the improvement.

at Newark Liberty Airport (EWR) in June 1988
c/n U-210 - built in 1983 - traded in to Dornier in 1989
to Ameriflight in 1989 - operated as freighter.
In May 1986, Precision Airlines became affiliated with Eastern Express, a move that was essentially the beginning of the end for the small carrier. Three years later, after the fall of Eastern Airlines, Precision became part of Northwest Airlink and the Precision identity disappeared from the aircraft.
The C99 Commuter model is an improved version of the original B-99 for up to 15 passengers, 11,300 lb (5,100 kg) max takeoff weight, Pratt & Whitney PT6A-36 (engines flat rated at 715 hp)
