Quonset State Airport Airshow and Open House 2015

The Blue Angles at the Rhode Island Airshow 2015. Traffic was horrendous getting to the show. Especially on Route 403. It took one hour to drive the last six miles to the airport. Even watched the Canadian Snowbirds performing while on the highway. Trekked a two mile round trip on foot with camera equipment and tripod, I didn't use due to the crowds. The icing on the cake was seeing this spectacular team perform at day's end. Beautiful weather and lots of great performers.

My appreciation and thanks to all of you that have commented awarded, and faved.

For all of you who have expressed their concern for our safety following Hurricane Sandy, I thank you all for your kindness and support. Our region has been knocked down but we will get back up and put things back together. We will RESTORE THE SHORE because we are JERSEY STRONG!

As some of you are aware many of my images have been taken at Cattus Island They are in dire need of some assistance due to the impact of Sandy. They have lost an incredible amount of equipment. For those who might like to help them out they have started a fund at Go Fund Me to offset some of the damage.

Thank you again to all of you for your support!

I wasn't sure whet I was going to use for this challenge and then I thought about these which I used recently.

Belonged to my Father although I don't know what he used them for. They are worn on the head and the magnifier is hinged to lift up out of the way when not using. Provides hands free magnification and so it is very useful. This is in its original box, the bottom of which is velvet lined for protection. I used them recently when looking for that dreaded broken needle inside my machine. Ideal for close intricate work potentially jewellery work

The last one before I leave for a week.

I was gonna use this for the old WWII weapons contest (that SPW one). But i didn't finish on time, so i re-built it in my style.

Have fun!

A Brown-hooded Kingfisher (Halcyon albiventris) grips a freshly caught Striped Skink—a moment of instinct, agility, and survival. These kingfishers aren’t just about water; they’re woodland hunters, often found far from rivers, ambushing insects, small reptiles, and even amphibians.

I have just had my camera body, extender and lens matched by the UK Canon Service Centre. I am very pleased with the improvement.

Fog and dew this morning—almost as shot except for slight curves. That's all white dewy web behind the foreground web, suspended from a stick across wet grass. Busy little spider.

Inspired by Flickr Friday's #Precision theme.

Northbound UP MASCH freight is a few miles north of Villa Grove with four units on the head end. Thanks to Union Pacific's glorious "precision" railroading plan, the first and last units of this train are on the chopping block. In the near future, instead of four units on a train, it'll most likely be one!

Two precision measuring devices: a steel rule marked in 1/64th inch increments (top scale, bottom is 1/32") and some calipers that have been hanging around since my university days (and I don't remember what class these were even for). For 118 pictures in 2018, #12, "precision".
