On 8 June 2026 the Golden Spike Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society assisted with the first stage of the move of D&RGW 223 from Ogden Utah to the location where its restoration will be completed.
The Chapter worked on restoring the 223 to operation beginning in 1991 but due to municipal politics were forced to stop work on the locomotive in 2019. Since then, Ogden has sold the locomotive to the 223 Locomotive Foundation.
The fork from a gaspipe bicycle I found in a junkpile; clamped in a vice, leveled with a bubble level, and all the parts tied together with twine until I fire up the torch for those last 3 brazes :-)
I am currently studying a surveyors course at Uni and technical drawing is about the most creative thing I get to do on my course, and I only get to do it once a week, I quite enjoy it however. My dad is an architect and has always hand drawn, in fact he used to teach a technical drawing class at my Uni - so maybe I have picked some of it up from him over the years.
