thanks for praying for japan.
Thank you, oh Great Orbomine, for my food every day-
such as it is-
"Why did you look at me that way?"
-And thank you for playing outside with me- whenever I'm allowed to go out, that is-
"Again with the looks!"
-But thank you most, Great Orbomine, for giving me a Dad who is healthy and never tires of playing ball with me when I AM allowed outside. I love him.
"Sniff, sniff...I love you, too, Clancy."
Amen to that.

... funny how the elements in this photo looked like they were manually overlaid - hmmm.
I am not 100% sure what kind of Praying mantis this actually is, but I looked it up and it appears to be a, "Green Praying Mantis".
The banding is pretty bad on this with all of the gradations in it.
Scientific name: Mantodea
Found this beast of the macro world today in some late day sunlight after I got home from work. So I pulled out the long lens and the 100mm to get some captures. This one was taken with the 100mm lens closer in to get the praying mantis' upper body and head.
This Praying Mantis captured a House Wren and is trying to pull it out of the nest box. It is amazing the size of the prey they will capture!
This is the nest box I put up in an emergency for the House Wrens. It is made from a piece of 4 inch pvc pipe, suspended from an overhanging board which is fixed to a piece of pipe. I splattered black paint on it to make it look like a piece of birch wood. Total cost - about $1.00.
