I spotted the fountain and wanted to take a picture. While I was fiddling with dials this chap came up and washed his apple before eating it. How wonderfully useful! I wonder if this was placed here, next to a fruit market, with this in mind?

Every now and again someone puts soap in a fountain here in amsterdam. This happend last night week at the American hotel.
An essential part of the Montessori philosophy is the integration of practical life skills. You can see some matching works, water works, table towels, and the drinking water area - each student has a cup of their own and is able to pour water from the pitcher.

CHEMEX Africa combined a broad range of theoretical knowledge with practical experience. It is designed to expand national capacity in assistance and protection, one of the key provisions of the Chemical Weapons Convention. First responders and instructors from over 30 African countries participated in CHEMEX Africa in Algiers, Algeria from 23 September to 5 October 2023. This intensive training programme is the largest of its kind to date and was conducted in close cooperation with the Algerian authorities, with financial support from the government of Canada. Additional instructors from the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom supported the exercise, and the European Union, United Kingdom and United States sent observers.
The objective of the exercise was to enhance capacities in African countries to respond to chemical emergencies, including incidents and attacks perpetrated by terrorists. CHEMEX instructors were trained through the OPCW Africa Programme and will train the next generation of African first responders.
Experts trained during CHEMEX come from across Africa and include civilian and military first responders in civil defence fire and rescue services, police, military, hazardous materials teams, and medical professionals. Participants will demonstrate their new skills acquired during CHEMEX in a chemical emergency response simulation at the end of the training.

Mark Twain described Varanasi as 'older than history, older than tradition, older than legend'; this epitomizes the inspirations and experiences this ancient city provides to people all over the world. The seat of Hinduism, believed to be directly owned by the supreme deity Lord Shiva, it is also the city of death because of the belief that dying here will instantly lead to Moksha (liberation from the chain of life and death). The scenic stretch of steps on the banks of the mythical River Ganges is the face of the city. The old city still remains in a rusty tone with a large flurry of tourists and pilgrims alighting here every day. Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple and Bharat Mata Mandir are must-see attractions here along with the Buddist site of Sarnath (a few kilometers away). The narrow alleyways leading to the ghats is a signature trait of the city which has a vintage appeal in every breath.
