For Telegraph Tuesday

The light produced by the setting sun is truly powerful, illuminating even the darkest of places.

One of my new pictures, a picture of the sunset shining over the landscape.

"To all of the grandmothers who make the world more gentle, more tolerant and more safe for our children. Never doubt your importance." – Mary-Lou Rosengren

This unique button was just one of many treasures kept in my Grandmother's treadle sewing machine cabinet. It brings back memories of time spent sorting through the intriguing shapes and colors.

She'd bring out her small basket of buttons, pour them on the table...then we'd pour through them....telling each other the things that made them one of our favorites.

Never underestimate how powerful it is to give of your time to a child. Someday you might be someone's special memory, too.

Working in the dark-. ( Vilanova Lighthouse - Catalonia)

Story of the photo in English:

We chose a winter night to be able to work calmer without having tourists or couples in love on the sand on the beach.

We tried to get a good snapshot of the "Vilanova i la Geltrú" lighthouse, so a group of colleagues got together and I wanted to capture them at work, each looking for their own framing of the place where we were.

Since the shots were shot at very slow speeds, the problem was that we had the tripod on the sand and you had to be very careful that it did not move due to sinking in it or because of the wind, in addition to working with gloves because of the cold that was. day.

I also had to calculate the time in which the lighthouse made its turn to capture the flash of light that passed during the opening of the shutter.

The lights that are seen in the dark are from the viewfinders of my companions' cameras.

The edition has been quite laborious, due to the great darkness that we had in the place, in front of the powerful light of the lighthouse.

I hope you like photography, a big hug friends of Flickr. antoni.

Antoni.

This image: Namibia is not all desert and dunes. It has a vast coast line with spectacular flamingo, pelican and seal populations. There are so many flamingos that it is difficult to isolate them, but the fog this morning helped, and it created a magical, mysterious mood.

Have a very good and happy week.

One I should have shared in April last year. Tidying up some old files. Better late than never.

Clearly it was rather dark when I captured this - 1/25th ISO500 ... it's never easy but would be impossible without vibration reduction!

Mindfulness, a practice rooted in ancient meditation traditions, is gaining traction in modern society as a powerful tool for mental clarity and well-being. This technique involves maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and the surrounding environment through a gentle, nurturing lens.

By fostering a heightened state of consciousness, individuals can break free from the autopilot mode often induced by the fast-paced nature of contemporary life.

Recent studies underscore the myriad benefits of mindfulness, which range from reduced stress and anxiety to improved focus and emotional regulation. Advocates argue that incorporating mindfulness into daily routines can lead to enhanced overall health, promoting a more balanced and fulfilling life.

As the practice continues to garner mainstream attention, its potential as a remedy for the mental health challenges of our time becomes increasingly apparent.

Be in the moment, embrace the calm and just breathe.

Our Daily Challenge: MY FAVORITE . . . ANIMAL

Powerful, fast and beautiful.

Under the right circumstances, sometimes even cute (like on the photo), but also sneaky and of course dangerous. Overall, tigers are fascinating animals.

WWT Slimbridge 2023.

This large and powerful bird is easily overlooked, its presence most readily revealed during the early breeding season when individuals make display flights over their woodland territories.

The Goshawk was an extremely rare bird historically and may even have been lost from our shores as a breeding species during the late 1800s. Increasing numbers of records from the 1960s have been linked to escaped or deliberately released captive birds, and it is from these beginnings that our current population originates. (BTO).

This photo is from June 2023. I was in the Van de Bovenkamp Hide at WWT Slimbridge. If my memory serves me right, there was a lot of reeds off to the right of the hide at the time. Without warning this young Goshawk seemed to come straight out of the reeds. It was one of those rare occasions when I managed (probably in a slight panic) to get the camera to focus on the bird before it disappeared!

My thanks to anyone who views, faves or comments on any of my photos. It is much appreciated.

In a world defined by responsibility, seriousness, and relentless hurry, a glowing neon sign whispers a simple yet powerful message: “Never Grow Up.” These three words, captured in the fleeting atmosphere of a bustling café, carry a meaning that extends far beyond their apparent simplicity.

The concept of never growing up is often associated with preserving a childlike innocence and maintaining an everlasting curiosity. It is a call to retain the ability to see the wonder in the mundane, to delight in the small things, and to explore the world with open eyes. In childhood, every moment is filled with possibilities, and every minor adventure can be the greatest.

Yet, “Never Grow Up” is more than just a sentimental recollection of the past. It also serves as a critical reflection on society, which often demands that we relinquish our youthful dreams and fantasies to fit into the role of ‘adult.’ This role is filled with obligations, serious decisions, and often a heavy dose of reality that can weigh us down.
