Today we walked atop the Malahat then drove over to the Kinsol Trestle. After a windy, rainy start to the day it cleared up beautifully so we jumped in the car and headed for the Malahat. We took the Shawnigan Lake road into Stebbings Road where we turned left southward up into the hills.
We drove in for 1.6km then turned left onto Goldstream Heights which goes another 6km right up to the top of the Malahat Range overlooking Saanich Inlet and Finlayson Arm.
If this is the proposed route for the Trans Canada Trail from Goldstream westward to join the existing trail section at Sooke Lake Road. Forget it! Who wants to cycle over this mountain range? No one.
