This is an old photo, but I hopefully won't be having another powercut soon , and I don't allow candles as a norm in a house full of students!
I returned to Flickr during a 2 and a half day powercut and I no internet access, here are some pictures before and after the storm
Just got in.no power,so no evening meal or drink.Was not happy,a sweary peter for once!Got a autimated call from power networks telling me the power was off!Great,I know this.Frustrating!...My neibour is ill,he got a personal call,that is nice,good for them!.....The sixth power cut this year.

In these edited Photoshop doodles, I've experimented with "turning the lights out" in a city centre; simulating a total power blackout in Manchester. It's either beautiful or scary, depending on how you read the situation!

54/365 Thanks to storm Doris we had a 12 hour power cut yesterday, luckily my better half quite enjoys preparing supper on the log burner - and delicious it was too.
This is a shot from a largely dissapointing roll of 35mm shot with the holga. Pretty much every shot has a light leak all the way across the middle and a blob at the top, but somehow this has escaped.
I was working late at home, was about 1AM and suddenly there was a powercut, streetlights everything went down. Rushed out with the Holga to get a long bulb exposure, but mid way through this car went past. In retrospect I should have cut the exposure before the car went out of shot. I do quite like the lens flare off the plastic lens.
the power has been out here most of today due to a storm i had hoped to get out shooting some of it but would have been blown away hehe, and with no willing models today i had to shoot myself ,oh im so glad i didn't break my lens lol
I'm told this is a fairy ring (circle?) -- you can only see a small portion of it, but it extends off to the right for quite some way, forming a circle about 10 feet (3 meters) in diameter.
I think I actually prefer the moss in the bottom right corner to the actual mushrooms -- but either way, it's a lovely bit of green nature!

Rainy wet Sunday afternoon + loong powercut + overtired children = one cat deciding that being high up on the shelf with the cobwebs & fly dirt was perhaps not a bad thing.
We recently had a powercut for 36 hours due to lines coming down in high winds. Jo did her studying by candlelight and I cooked a casserole on a camping stove =]

Japanese Honeysuckle (a.k.a. Golden-and-silver Honeysuckle; Lonicera japonica) - Power-cut west of Bethany Lane, Ellicott City, Maryland
An introduced plant from Japan that is native to much of east Asia. It seems to love the disturbed land found along powercuts and the unkept parts of peoples yards. So, much so that many strict nature lovers refer to it as "Invasive".
A night in Myanmar is often spent in darkness. Even for those who can afford to spend $200 on a generator, electricity remains a rare and capricious commodity.
Surprisingly, despite domestic shortages, Myanmar exports electricity to Thailand, India and Singapore.

The duck: "This is my world, my "small world".Here, there is no traffic jam, no hyper-tension, no cardiac arrests, no ring tones, no mobile phones, no laptops, no apertures, no shutterspeeds, no pizzas and burgers, no bulls and bears, no tax deducted at source, no missiles, no guns, no prisoners of war, no FM, no DJs and VJs, no catwalks (of course cats walk here), no nuclear deal, no powercuts, no balance sheets and no homework for our kids.
But there are emarald waters, swaying trees, whistling wind, chirping birds, glowing sun, milky moon, twinkling stars,blasting thunder, flashing lightning, chilling showers and of course fish for my feast. What else do I need? I love my small world."
Ezhil : "OK, my dear duck, but do you know that effluents are already let into your beautiful "small world", from the new factory over there? Don't feel very elated, my dear. Next month you may be floating upside down in your "small world".
The duck : "Oops...Ezhil, what shall I do now? If you really love me, you must find a safer "small world" for me. Will you?"
Ezhil simply stared at the duck unable to say "yes" because he couldn't find a safer "small world" for the poor duck.
Vandels or thieves destroyed a single point on the EDF (Electricite De France) power distribution system and blacked out 100,000 customers most of them across 4 days - personally for 63 hours. That's called great design - the concept of redundancy and resiliance in network design seems lost on them. If you're puzzled about ownership - well HM Government sold our power infrastructure to the French some years ago! Anyway it took them 63 hours to restore supply using the bigest deployment of mobile generators seen in UK apparently. Here is one still doing its job. (Just heard a suggestion that the power cables cut had Axe marks - authorities suggest that 132 000 volts are not likely to have found the wooden axe handle much of an insulator - shame!)
No doubt someone will be along shortly to nick the generator
The loss of power screwed phones (both cell & landline) and Internet access - glad it was summer!

Due to a Gas explosion in the North West. Perth City has had the power turned of to the advertising signs.
Oh. and the Swan River was so flat Friday night.
I woke early to find that there'd been a power cut. I went for a walk in the darkened streets. A vehicle stopped just round the corner, illuminating the houses at the end of the road.
Soon afterwards the street lights came back on.

I actually edited this twice - from start to finish - the first time, just as I went to click "save" - we had a powercut.

I thought that the previous photo would be the last one of this series, but according to the last news, the consequences of the blackout will last until February, 6-7 months more.
Although today, one week later, almost all the Barcelonians already have electricity (there are few that not yet), many depend on the 150 generator sets distributed by different zones from the city. These enormous apparatuses are giving electricity them, and in addition a deafening noise day and night, heat and smoke. Some of them let work because the fuel finishes to them, because they are damaged or because somebody siwtchs off them at night (it is suspected).
This one of the photography, from the balcony of my house, it is not of greatest, and supplies to a supermarket. The noise is thunderous, and to avoid that it lets work they have put him an additional fuel tank on top, and a security guard.

The great cosmopolitan city, opened, modern, present cine set of Woody Allen, bastion of a country that it tries to enter some day the G7, underwent yesterday day 23 to 10:53 local time (8: 53 GMT) a blackout of that now, 20 hours later, not yet has left. Shameful and outrageous.

Pensé que la anterior foto serÃa la última de esta serie, pero según las últimas noticias, las consecuencias del apagón durarán hasta febrero, 6-7 meses más.
Si bien hoy, una semana después, casi todos los barceloneses ya tienen electricidad (hay unos pocos que aún no del todo), muchos dependen de los 150 grupos electrógenos distribuidos por diferentes zonas de la ciudad. Estos enormes aparatos les están dando electricidad, y además un ensordecedor ruido dÃa y noche, calor y humo. Algunos de ellos dejan de funcionar porque se les acaba el combustible, porque se averÃan o porque alguien los apaga por la noche (se sospecha).
Este de la fotografÃa, desde el balcón de mi casa, no es de los más grandes, y abastece a un supermercado. El ruido es atronador, y para evitar que deje de funcionar le han puesto un depósito de combustible adicional encima y un vigilante jurado.

La gran ciudad cosmopolita, abierta, moderna, plató actual de Woody Allen, baluarte de un paÃs que pretende entrar algún dÃa en el G7, sufrió ayer dÃa 23 a las 10:53 hora local (8:53 GMT) un apagón del que ahora, 20 horas después, aún no ha salido. Vergonzoso e indignante.
