This is my old roommate, Richard (A.K.A. "coral") repairing his Apple Powerbook. Good luck, man! May The Force be with you.
This one is the glorious G3 Lombard. The CPU card has a defect and it can not recognise more than 256MB RAM.
Here's why I need the Apple service center: before we had our nice setup I tripped on Fru's Powerbook cord and it came crashing down onto the floor. Soon after a small fracture where the screen's screw is widened, making opening and closing the laptop a heartbreaking process.
I have a feeling that even though the screen works fine, this is going to cost.
I revived the old beige box that has been sitting in a corner since it died in 2004. To the right, the Powerbook that replaced it.
had to be dug out as someone had sent us some metadata on a mac floppy, and no one in the office has a floppy drive. running System 7.1.1.
Or: my PowerBook being broken and the iBook erasing its hard drive to prep it for repairs (keep your data close to you or not at all!). Fun fact: a 7-pass erase by the G3 of an 80GB hard drive over firewire took 15 hours.
Ein Glässchen Wein dabei kann nicht schaden! Die meisten Schrauben habe ich wieder unterbringen können.
