A random snapshot of several electrical power poles in an industrial area in Brookhaven, Mississippi.
The Industrial building that one of the three-phase electrical circuits distributes electricity to is the Delphi Corporation's Brookhaven Plant that manufactures plastic parts for automotive industry or something like that. I do not really know much about this place as I do not know anyone who does work here.
"...you must be healed by now... on the outside at least, I hope you're not too ugly. What a collection of scars you have. Never forget who gave you the best of them, and be grateful, our scars have the power to remind us that the past was real. We live in a primitive time, don't we, Will? Neither savage nor wise. Half measures of the curse of it; any rational society would either kill me or put me to some use. Do you dream much?"
Your old friend, Hannibal Lecter.

These ‪pictures‬ were taken at an abandoned fossil-fuel power station in Charleroi.
Charleroi is a city located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. The metropoltian area has a total population of 522,522 by January 1, 2008, ranking it as the 4th most populous city in Belgium after Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent. After the Industrial Revolution, Charleroi benefited from the increased use of coals in the metallurgical industry. People from across Europe were attracted by the economic opportunities, and the population grew rapidly. Because after World War II the need for coals declined, Charleroi witnessed a general decline of its heavy industry. Poverty in the city increased. Charleroi has an unemployment rate of 26%. You'll find syringes and dumped garbage in public places.
Investing in the publicdevelopment is important for the city economics.
I made a rapportage about Charleroi ‪follow‬ for more.

These powerlines were the only things in miles around. Even the road only existed for their sake. Everything else was sand, some vegetation and lots of rock.

Coal-fired power-station built 1968-72 to provide power to Alcan's nearby aluminium smelter. The plant is currently undergoing a major conversion programme that will see the former coal-fired power station convert to full biomass electricity generation.

This is one of my husband's golf clubs. Some golfers believe that Power Bilt gives the extra power to make the ball fly farther.
The name on the club is not as clear as I had hoped but I was rushing because it is almost time to leave for work.
In the myriad precarious situations in which we find ourselves in this profession, we must often use not only our intelligence and wit, but also our strength. We must frequently rely on our own power and on the power of our equipment. For those reasons, your assignment (should you choose to accept it) is POWER.
As always: Strive to work with the same degree of creativity that we've come to expect from you. If not, you may be required to relinquish any power you currently possess as a special agent.
Ready? For this assignment, please compose, shoot, and submit your best representation of POWER. You have 24 hours. No more. No less. Post up to two of your best examples of photographs representing the mission assignment by the deadline: Noon CST; Tuesday, July 8, 2008.
