Grandma !!! It was terrible

I was just walking by and the Baby powder just exploded !!!!

I borrowed a speedlight from a friend and a quick google later I was making a lot of noise in the dark trying to time the bounce of the ball with the flash! Frustrating, but great fun, and exciting when this one landed!

Or should that be having a Geoff Hurst because this is a gent's urinal and 'powdering your nose' is a female euphemism for going the toilet. A woman could still use a urinal like this but her golden juices would go everywhere. Forming part of the Museum of London's Victorian Walk, this probably came from some gent's khazi in London in the 1960s or 70s before it got flattened and, being a booth urinal, it's unlikely any cottaging took place.

For those who don't know, cottaging is a Liverpool term for pleasuring other men in a gent's, which is probably why there aren't any public toilets these days - to prevent the likes of George Michael from looking for business, if you know what I mean. By the way, before you get on your high horse, I'm no homophobe.

I was so happy to see this Pink Powder Puff shrub in the new Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo - I believe this is a dwarf one. The one they had in the old Conservatory was a much bigger shrub and the flowers were red, but maybe this small one will simply grow bigger?

Just got back home from a very quick trip to a local park - well, it was quick getting there, but, oh boy, I must have caught rush hour on the way home. Had great fun watching a Porcupine that was up in a Spruce tree, nibbling on the branches. A real treat!

Landsat-5 satellite image taken on August 5, 2004 showing the area between the Tongue River (left) and lower Prairie Dog Creek (right) in Sheridan County, Wyoming. Compare with matching 1999 and 2003 images (Landsat-5 has lower resolution than Landsat-7 so the spatial detail is not as sharp). By this time many CBM wells have been drilled in this area. Unlike Utah, the state of Wyoming does not require that the water produced from CBM wells be injected back into the ground, so much of the produced water is being held in large retention ponds (blue spots scattered throughout the image). Some of these were pre-existing small reservoirs, originally built by ranchers in stream channels to capture snowmelt for watering livestock, that have been enlarged to hold CBM water. Many are new ponds constructed off-channel specifically for the CBM operation (these are typically larger). Wyoming - Montana border is shown by brown line at top. Image is 10 miles across.

The old powder magazine has thick, reinforced walls to minimize the disaster of an explosion. It is now used as a museum. The Citadelle is a military base and an official residence which is located atop Cap Diamant in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. It was built in the 17th Century as a French fort and expanded by the British between between 1820 and 1831. In its time, because of its location at the top of the hill overlooking a narrow strait and its star shape, it was a mighty defense against a potential threat by the Americans and potential internal revolt.
