Alkanet powder can be mixed with alcohol to create a strong anthotype dye. It produces a dark maroon-violet that exposes in 1-2 weeks.

The exif info shows that this was taken at a quarter of a second … hand held, the mind boggles, how is the text so crisp and clear? Underneath the words IMPERIAL LEATHER, it says MASTER PERFUMERS. It's indistinct in the image on Flickr but easy to read on the left-hand container when one looks at the image on the 'phone – provided one uses one's fingers to make it a bit bigger !
Some nice powder, but mostly ice. A little mild weather would be fine, to make new snow stick to the ice. But we will most likely get a lot of mild weather, melting it all.

What a great game last night between our 9/12th grade girl’s (teal colored team) against our 10th/11th grade girls (orange colored team) in this year’s Homecoming Powderpuff game. The big victory and bragging rights go to the 9th and 12th grade girls and Coach O’Guinn! A sincere thanks to all the girls that participated and made the night possible. A HUGE Mrs. Charlotte Dotson and the Student Leadership Advisory Committee for coordinating the whole event!! Also a few other thanks to:

A powder boy or powder monkey was a member of a warship's crew, during the Age of Sail. His chief role was to ferry gunpowder from the powder magazine in the ship's hold to artillery pieces on the gun deck, carried in leather containers to minimize risk of fire or explosion. The function was fulfilled by boy seamen usual between 12 and 14 years of age. Powder monkeys were selected for the job for their speed and low height: if they were small they could move quickly in the limited space between decks and would also be hidden behind the ship's gunwale, protecting them from enemy ships' sharpshooters. These powder monkeys held no official naval rank and were also required to assist ship’s officers by bringing them food, cleaning their cabins, delivering messages, etc.
