Handcrafted from cow horn, it held the powder used in black powder rifles and pistols. Readily available, easily cut, lightweight, and waterproof, cow horn made the ideal container.

Everything you need to basic shake and bake method.
- Powder coat paint (powderbuythepound.com ford light blue works great. Smoke's powder is the best by far though, order here castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?241259-VS-Hi-qual...)
- #5 recyclable plastic container (walmart)
- Hardware cloth (lowe's gardening section)
- Toaster oven (walmart)
- Cast lead bullets (cleaned with non-chlorinated brakleen)
Be sure to clean your cast bullets with Acetone or non-chlorinated brakleen. I use brakleen because I can just set them on a disposable platter tray, spray them down, shake the tray, and then spray them again. Use gloves during all this so your finger oils don't contaminate the bullets.
***********After using this clear paint and shooting many rounds from many different calibers with it, I can safely say I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS COLOR PAINT!!! It lays on thick, REGARDLESS if you shake excess off which adds too much to the diameter. This isn't a big deal for overall diameter since you just size the bullet; however, for bore riding nose profiles, this means the bore riding portion will dig into the rifling as well which could affect pressure and accuracy!!! Use ford light blue or any of smoke's colors instead!************
Powder the deer was emailed to me from a friend. He was found along side of the highway. His mother could not be found, probably ran over by a car. He was kept and bottle fed for a short time. Later he was taken by the wildlife reserve tobe raised and kept.

Powder Magazine, Gairlochy
Said to have been built for the construction of the Invergarry and Fort Augustus Railway line. Appears on the 2ns Edition OS Map but not the 1st Edition so that would fit with being for the railway rather than the canal construction.
