#mycrcs Powder Puff Preparation

Between 1846 and 1897 black powder was manufactured here for use in the numerous mines and quarries on the moor.

A leaf at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center in St. Louis County appears to be suspended in midair, roughly 4 feet off the ground. But a strand of a spider's web keeps it in place.

The Powder Mills were built in 1844, a factory for making gunpowder which was built on the open moor, not far from Postbridge. Gunpowder was needed for the tin mines and granite quarries then in operation on the moor. The buildings were widely spaced from one another for safety and the mechanical power for grinding ("incorporating") the powder was derived from waterwheels driven by a leat.

Now known as "Powdermills" or "Powder Mills", there are extensive remains of this factory still visible. Two chimneys still stand and the walls of the two sturdily-built incorporating mills with central waterwheels survive well: they were built with substantial walls but flimsy roofs so that in the event of an explosion, the force of the blast would be directed safely upwards. The ruins of a number of ancillary buildings also survive. A proving mortar—a type of small cannon used to gauge the strength of the gunpowder—used by the factory still lies by the side of the road.

Another shot with Danielle Turner from Model Mayhem. This image is actually

a shot between shots. The main image of the model was caught after we had just done a take and she relaxed and looked down and I snapped a couple of shots. I think took powder from 2 other images and created this final composite of the 3 shots. Let me know how you think I did in the comments. Press the letter "L" to see on black.

Strobist: this was a mix of strobe and Flourescent lights. 1 Profoto acute b 600r in a 3'x4 softbox directly overhead. 2 1000watt lowell lights 1 camera right and 1 camera left about 3ft from the model.1 profoto acute b 600r behind and camera left shooting thru the powder and creating a highlight on the right side of the face. I also had a silver reflector under the models face to soften the shadows. Triggered by pocketwizards. I also recommend a damp cloth to with your gear down every so often because the powder gets on everything!

really like saying that name, Powder Mountain. its the big gentle slope in the distance. easy ski up from this side and drops off fast on the other side. fun, fun.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - The stars shine above the peak at Powder River Pass shortly before 3AM. In the valley below the weather was warm and calm, but up here at 9,660 feet it was much colder and the wind was howling.

This picture was taken in my local forest, I put baby powder in the models hair and when she turned her head the powder threw itself off. I liked how the model is positioned. It gives the impression of throwing away any doubts off of her shoulder.

The California Powder Works Bridge across the San Lorenzo River, built in 1872, is a National Historic Landmark. One of two covered bridges across the San Lorenzo, this bridge is in the private enclave called "Paradise Park" close to the city of Santa Cruz. As I discovered while taking these photos, at least one of the residents there doesn't take particularly kindly to outsiders nosing around their National Historic Landmark without permission.

Powder Day. I never thought there was a thing as too much pow! It’s been raining for the last 24hrs in the valley and the avalanche app was predicting anywhere upwards of 15 - 25cm of snow in the Mountains! First thing that blew my mind was the people I pulled up to at the parking lot. A couple that must have been at least in their mid 70s if not older getting their touring skis out of their camper and heading up Baldy Rocks. Not only that but I ran into them later on again on their 2nd or 3rd lap 🔥🔥🔥. So fucking inspiring!

Snow was absolutely ridiculous!! All the skinning tracks were completely buried and you could just see a faint outline of them in some areas!! I wanted to see how far I could get up because the Avalanche App did say we were at Considerable Avalanche Danger above the treeline. Sure enough I heard a loud crack and some popping and a nice crack appeared right below me. That was the spot where I stopped and headed downhill!!

Next time I gotta remember when we have this much snow I gotta pick steeper lines because at times it was all going or all together I just got stuck and had to swim out ( watch till the end ). Also took a wrong turn and somehow ended up on the wrong side of the mountain which was a mind blowing ride down but the trek back up took everything out of me.

I love this shit!!

I think this cowgirl got a little carried away with the baby powder. They use it to handle their ropes at the rodeo. I assume it improves their grip. If you’ll look close, you’ll see a bottle of it tucked under the seat at the back of their saddle.

My girlfriend ran a leg of a marathon in Michigan's UP. During Saturday afternoon of the long weekend as we were taking a walk along the nearest country road, the father of my girlfriend's classmate who the owned the chalet we were staying at, drove out to show us a hidden path/trail to a set of waterfalls that we would not have seen from the road.

While you can be the judge if the photo turned out, it was as much fun watching a guy in his mid-to-late 60's jump between stones like I used to when I was 15 years old - I was quite impressed and inspired at his dexterity.

Olá meninas...dei uma sumidinhaaaaa... =(

BJs!!!

It may be July, but Buster is ready for ski season!

Cold; five consecutive days of temperatures that did not reach 20 F and nighttime lows below zero. But when snow falls through really cold air, it is light and powdery.

This year´s first frost covers a hilly landscape in Kraichgau region of Germany in fine rime powder.
