Talcum powder is not so common as it once was as it is said to be carcinogenic, however, I still use it. I thought the container on the left was running out so I bought another but the unopened one on the right seems to be only half full - presumably the fine powder settles after the containers have been filled.

Olá meninas...dei uma sumidinhaaaaa... =(
BJs!!!
This project i decided to use powder to create a photo. Having the camera on a fast shutter speed it allowed me to capture the powder falling.

Updated photo to show rich colors. This ruffled pendant is made from Katoclay stretch thin in my pasta machine. Trying to decide what to do with it, I found that was very pliable and folded easily. I used black embossing powder before baking and used 600 grit sandpaper to polish off "just enough' after it had cured. The edges are treated with gold guilders paste and the final polish is Renaissance Wax.

Picture of a custom powder board I commissioned from DONEK snowboards 16 years ago (2002; pic taken in 2004).
Niseko powder was/is so legendary that it required/requires a special kind of board to navigate through.
I commissioned an even *better* board a few years later.

We had a photoshoot in AP Photo today. Here's Day 1's results. Hopefully will have a day two tomorrow!

Two speedlights on 1/2 power in one silver umbrella, quite high (~ 2,5 m), 45° to the model. Why did we use two speedlights on half the power instead of one on full power? Makes them faster ..., to freeze the flying colored flour. The umbrella was half-collapsed to concentrate the spotlight.

This talc cake was made to welcome a baby boy. I would have preferred this with royal icing details rather than the edible image ... Chocolate mud cake sculpted from a 7" square.
A month after CSX dolled it up, L&N 7067 wears it's Family Lines paint once more after rotting in the deadlines in Huntington in it's green and white Marshall University scheme, the only aspect that saved it from the scrap heap like it's C30-7 sister units. We visited KSHC one afternoon to see it for ourselves, given permission by one of the volunteers to get up close and personal for a few photos. She sure looked nice, and you could still smell the paint.
This was shot for an interior designer. It was a full remodel/redesign of a houseboat. The property was vacant, but since my client was not able to be present for the photo shoot, she opted to leave it un-staged.
I tried using a little bit of flash in here, but it really wasn't working. So ended up blending two ambient frames: a lighter one for the upper part of the shot and a darker one for the lower part, as well as the door.
Feedback and suggestions are much appreciated...thanks!
