Certainly a pretty time in the day (at the start).
Taken in the Great Falls park along the Potomac River (Maryland Side).
The bluff in Freestone Point overlooks the Potomac River in Leesylvania State Park. It was used by the Confederacy to blockade Washington D.C. during the Civil War. The top of the bluff is on Lee's Woods Trail. Freestone Point is named for the free limestone the colonist would get here. The trail is probably named after Judge Lee or Senator Harry (Light Horse) Lee who resided there. This shot was taken from the Freestone Point Pier. #LeesylvaniaStatePark #Virginia #PotomacRiver #FreestonePoint
A nice location for taking photos along the Potomac River ... and with the added bonus of some brief color in the morning clouds.
Here is a stitch of two captures taken with the 17mm to get a wider view of this area below the main falls at Great Falls, Maryland on the Potomac River.
It was a pretty morning light wise ... but very warm and humid even at 6:15 in the morning.
Stitched captures of this pretty area (3 images at 10mm on the Canon 60D). Each captured at 1.6 seconds to smooth out the reflection just a little more.
This is Bushey Point in Leesylvania State Park where Powells Creek joins the Potomac River. #LeesylvaniaStatePark #PotomacRiver #river #shoreline #nature #Natur #water #Wasser #eau
That is what they looked like to me. The clouds were moving really fast that morning ... this was only a 5 second exposure.
Late after sunset there at Great Falls, Maryland ... here a section of the Potomac River cuts through Olmstead Island.
It was getting dark enough here to capture this scene at 30 seconds without the need of any ND filters.
Sunset usually leaves a beautiful scene along the Potomac river. But finding a good foreground to go with the scene is not easy. Thanks for these rocks serving the purpose. Happy Thanksgiving!
taken at the same time as the previous b&w post
the map says VA but this is on the MD side of the river
A walk along Potomac Trail in Leesylvania State Park. This flat trail is relatively short as it skirts the Potomac River. #LeesylvaniaStatePark #PotomacRiver #shoreline #riverfront #river #sand #driftwood #park #shoreline
Low clouds in the early morning sky along the pretty Potomac River in Maryland, along the border with Virginia.
