I'm stampolina and I love to take photos of stamps. Thanks for visiting this pages on flickr.
I'm neither a typical collector of stamps, nor a stamp dealer. I'm only a stamp photograph. I'm fascinated of the fine close-up structures which are hidden in this small stamp-pictures. Please don't ask of the worth of these stamps - the most ones have a worth of a few cents or still less.
By the way, I wanna say thank you to all flickr users who have sent me stamps! Great! Thank you! Someone sent me 3 or 5 stamps, another one sent me more than 20 stamps in a letter. It's everytime a great surprise for me and I'm everytime happy to get letters with stamps inside from you!

What it is really , a post box wrapped in black sacks or some such other black plastic wrapping . Not sure what has occurred but the hinged door is missing that the posties usually open to collect the letters and post to go back to the sorting office to be distributed to their destinations . Not sure if the hinges broke , the lock broke or did some character take to the door with a sledge hammer to get at the contents ?? Not sure but it is sited in an out of the way residential area , hardly a major target .

Postal workers have not always had it easy:-
The Motto of the "Pony Express" riders was
“Neither rain, or snow, nor death of night, can keep us from our duty.”
The Pony Express was a mail service delivering messages, newspapers, and mail using relays of horse-mounted riders that operated from April 3, 1860, to October 26, 1861, between Missouri and California in the United States of America.
Operated by the Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company, the Pony Express was of great financial importance to the U.S. During its 18 months of operation, it reduced the time for messages to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to about 10 days. It became the West's most direct means of east-west communication before the transcontinental telegraph was established on October 24, 1861.
By comparison in London mail was delivered twelve times a day - - yes 12 times a day.
A.E.I.O.U. Elastic bands dropped by our local posties on their delivery rounds. We used to collect the bands off the streets, and make them into large bouncy balls. The posties have stopped using elastic bands now...

Counting blessings as I am not homeless and have plenty of food for the the festive season, unlike so many other people.
The forecast said it would rain at 11 but the skies were blue and the sun shining at 10.50, so I decided to go out for a walk. A wash had just finished, so I delayed my departure to hang it up on the airing rack to dry. Thank goodness I did! The sky darkened, the rain hammered down and the wind howled for about 15 minutes. The bright colours are from the Royal Mail van parked by evergreen bushes. The poor posties got soaked :-(
A new posty, for Valentine's Day. I know I'm late! February is definitely the month of love for many. For me it's a time to focus on different techniques of practicing self love.
