A clear route ushers the Borealis through the usual time-sucking pinch points between Hastings and Saint Paul. The train pulled into Union Depot exactly on time and allowed for this photo splitting the dwarf signals near Warner Road. I think this is the last time I will be able to grab a shot of the Borealis arriving until spring.
Framed quite nicely by a tree that has even seen fit to mimic the angle of the power car nose, 43277 'Safety Task Force' passes through Ollerton and adds a burst of sunshine as it makes for the old colliery site.
No doubt the post would have carried a ubiquitous cast iron warning sign of some description in days gone by...I wonder if it graces someone's wall nowadays?

The second edition of the vast publication the "Municipal and Road Engineers' Standard Catalogue, 1929 - 1932" contains many hundreds of pages of adverts showing plant, appliances and supplies across a wide range of 'municipal' engineering such as road construction, lighting, refuse disposal, water supplies and sewerage and park equipment.
A rather fine advert issued by the Ipswich concern of Cocksedge & Co, described as engineers and ironfounders and showing a selection of their wares. The note alongside the direction posts comments on the 'Ministry of Transport's recommendations' and these are likely to be the 1933 that attempted to standardise the designs of the UK's road signs. Th eadvert shows some of the 'new' road signs as well as direction posts - it is difficult to know if these are 'fictional' although the West Yorkshire one could be 'real'. There's also a comparatively late showing for a milestone or post - not many of these were being made and fitted by the 1930s.
This has been a hairdresser's for at least 10 years (since I moved to the area), but the old Post Office sign is there to stay, part of the gorgeous little facade - and the character of Twyford.
I think the filter abuse befits this subject; needless to say it's all done in the phone - and Upstream-ed, tags, groups, map and all...
Dial Post is a hamlet in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. The civil parish, where the lowest level political meetings are held, is West Grinstead in the north-east - its biggest settlement is 2 miles (3.2 km) east at Partridge Green. UPDATE!!!
Just found out that the guy WAS in our park, spotted early this morning by a neighbor who called 911. Said he walked down the street then jumped into the wash and headed East.

You may not know this but about a mile from our house (as the crow flies) there is the United States Penitentiary - Tucson, the Arizona State Prison Complex Tucson, and the Federal Correctional Institution For Women- Tucson. That's a lot of inmates in a pretty close area.
Evidently last night close to midnight the worst happened and one of the prisoners escaped. As of right now they are still searching for him and it seems to be focused right on our neighborhood. There have been no shelter in place orders but it's always possible.
This is a command post they've got set up just down the street from us, lot's of undercover vehicles! Nothing like a good jailbreak to get us Seasoned Citizens up and out in the street!

We arrived back home after a few days away in Southampton and Rose had moulted! She is a bit bigger and looking a bit on the thin side so I popped a housefly into the viv.... it didn't last long!

We still have a few post boxes around our streets but certainly not as many as we used to have .... I can't remember the last time I posted a letter ~ haven't times changed!!
