The iron heart of the old ore crushing house is one of the most most evident reminders of the mining heritage of Glendalough.

It sits well in the landscape in my opinion.

The post office tower that houses this entirely mechanical clock was added to Alexander North's 1889 building in 1910. It rings out once every 15 minutes and the time on the hour.

Forbes Post Office is a heritage-listed post office at 118 Lachlan Street, Forbes, in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by the New South Wales Colonial Architect's Office under James Barnet and built from 1879 to 1881 by P. M. Vaughan. The property is owned by Australia Post. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 22 December 2000.[1] It was added to the Australian Commonwealth Heritage List on 22 June 2004. Source: Wikipedia

Forbes Post Office is associated with the establishment of the town, as it is linked with the original postal services established in 1861. As such, it is also associated with the discovery of gold in the area and the subsequent population explosion between 1861 and 1863.

Forbes Post Office is aesthetically significant because it is an outstanding example of the Victorian Italianate style with Second Empire influence on the clock tower roof, and makes an important aesthetic contribution to the civic precinct in Forbes. Forbes Post Office is also representative of the work undertaken by the NSW Colonial Architect's Office under James Barnet
