The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) occupies a converted factory building complex occupying 13-acres in North Adams, Massachusetts. It is one of the largest centers for contemporary visual art in the United States. The complex was originally built by the Arnold Print Works, which operated on the site from 1860 to 1942. MASS MoCA opened in 1999 with 19 galleries and 100,000 sq ft (9,300 m2) of exhibition space. It is large enough to put on exhibitions in individual buildings for extended periods - a Sol Lewitt building has five stories full of work conceived by him (and executed by others) on display until 2033; another building contains three large-scale installations by Anself Keifer on display until 2028.

The Boiler Room is one of the buidlings and when I was there it contained an installation of audio art. And old boiler room stuff that was highly photogenic.
RETNA Himself, showing his paint stained hands.
RETNA has this to say about this wall, and his work in general:
"It's about the world, unity and the circle of life. You know, how we're kind of all in this mission together. So there are some quotes that I'm writing about... you know my work deals a lot with different cultures and writing and I like the universality of it. I'm inspired by just a lot of different people, races, cultures, old scribes, ancient monuments, hieroglyphics and all that good stuff. I see a lot of similarities between a lot of different cultures within the artwork so I try to just mesh it all in to be another link in that circle. That's what the work is really about. Once I'm done I have the whole thing that I wrote... sometimes what happens with these pieces, the work itself kind of starts to interact and I'll see other things in there that kind of jump out, then I piece the whole saying together pretty much after that."

Pompidou Centre is a complex in the Beaubourg area of the 4th arrondissement of Paris. It was designed in the style of high-tech architecture. It is named after Georges Pompidou, the President of France from 1969 to 1974 who commissioned the building, and was officially opened on 31 January 1977 by President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. The Centre was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano; British architect Richard Rogers; and Italian architect Gianfranco Franchini, assisted by Ove Arup & Partners. The project was awarded to this team in an architectural design competition, whose results were announced in 1971. The outside of the building reflects the modern art that is held inside. The Centre shows that High-Tec style will be the future.
Awhile back, I was approached by my pal @tellogemmal about the idea of creating some collages out of iconic album covers (in hopes of generating potential t-shirt designs). I soon became obsessed with the challenge; finding covers that would not only be recognizable, but had the personally desirable attributes I felt like working with, as well.
Some first forays here are being sourced out of books, but now I’m really psyched to do some proper, 12” record album sleeves. The thicker card stock will undoubtedly bear wildly different results.
