One of the large range of advertising 'lorry bills' that were affixed to Shell-Mex delivery vehicles and issued by the company during the 1920s and 1930s. This, emphasising the modernity of the modern bather, is by using "modern days, modern ways" telling of Shell's advanced lubricating oil.
It is by Tom Purvis (1888 - 1959), one of the UK's then best known poster artists, who was commissioned not just by Shell but a wide range of clients including Austin Reed and the London & North Eastern Railway. This is typical of his style; bold colours and a simplicity of image.

I had a lot of fun while playing with all the great brushes that are included in the deal, and I've shared rather extensively the processes I used to reach my end result.
A series of illustrated posters that advocate against Animal Cruelty specifically in the Circus World, where animals are terribly mistreated. The concept was to present these animals in the recognizable circus attire and setting that the audience have become accustomed to, however with an alarming accessory: the chains which we do not see during the glitzy performance.

It's the good time winter fun fest of Moe. and their awesome Snoe.down jam. We're super excited to be working with Moe. When they contacted us, the mission was to mix things up from their previous posters and produce something fun, child-like and fresh. So, we Let loose & had a snowy good time with it for them. Wheee!
Snoe.down is the all-ages annual winter music festival hosted by moe. and not only features multiple sets by moe., but in 2010 also playing are funk/soul group Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, jam-grass favorites Railroad Earth, Assembly of Dust, and Hot Day at the Zoo, southern rockers the Bridge, up-and-coming jam-rockers the McLovins, and the Heavy Pets plus Leroy Justice, Lynch, and Moon Alice.
This is my 4-color, hand screenprinted poster with snowy light blue, warm orange and black hand-mixed, non-toxic water based acrylic inks. Super secret magic: transparent baby blue & orange inks = light brown, magical overprints. (Overprints are when semi-transparent layers of ink combine and overlap to make another color.)I will have a very limited number of this poster for sale, as most of the edition was sold by the band during the Snoe.down festival. Size: 18w x 24h inches. Edition of 675. Paper: acid-free & archival Cougar 100 lb White, cover weight.
The LBi brief was a typography based brief and asked for a solution to make the LBi brand more prominent by creating a typography-based solution using any media. LBi, which stands for Lost Boys International is a worldwide company that creates advertising campaigns for various companies such as Sony and D&AD. For the brief, I decided that a poster would be an effective solution to the brief.
The poster design consists of an image in the middle of a white space of an image related to the text (heart, butterfly, missile, etc) the type which is an acronym of LBi is in the bottom right with a logo of LBi with a web address in the top left.
I feel that this design is successful in raising awareness of the LBi brand because they are an unusual an intriguing poster design that makes the viewer wonder what the poster represents as well as showing that Lost Boys International can create unusual and interesting advertising campaigns.

An announcement invitation for The Apareció Foundation, a charity event that was hosted last month called Diamonds in the Rough which showcased the Hasana luxury jewelry & accessory line. The overall design of the invite reflected the name of the event. Beautiful gems of jewelry were showcased and juxtaposed against roughage of dried branches and foliage. The one-folded invited was printed on a pearlescent off-white paper to match the sunburst orange A2 envelope. Coincidentally, the iridescent paper also gave the jewelry that extra little sparkle especially to the teardrop crystal necklace on the front.

This was fun. I had a good time doing the illustraions (even though I did them on a laptop sitting in a cafe.. no Wacom tablet).
Also, I love all of these shows. Even though they're all basically the same.

A map of the world with lines running from the British Isles, showing steamship routes. Running along the bottom is a line of drawings of eleven ships from 900AD to 1936. On the maps left border is a ship being loaded from a dock. On the right hand border of the map a mail van coming out of a Post Office onto a high street, busy with pedestrians. A letter box can be seen on the pavement outside the Post Office and a sign displaying Post early today.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have the pleasure to announce that my latest piece for the good folks at Design Cuts is now live!
Their current bundle includes a few resources that have struck quite a chord with me, and after some extensive research, we decided to create an (alas fake) gig poster.
The tutorial covers the composition, layout, and texture manipulation techniques I've used for the piece. You should go read it, and let me know what you think.

B&W poster design for "Buy Nothing Day". I did this when i was breifly at Sheffield Hallam University. We were asked to create a A3 poster in black and white which can be photocopied and still have a strong design. I never got round to putting all the information on the poster.

I made a Valentine's Day thingy for my latest process piece for Design Cuts!
This one was quite a lot of fun to put together. Roverd is a great script typeface, with plenty of luscious swashes to play with. Add a few ornaments around it, sprinkle with a texture or two, and you'll get a neat card/poster to share with your loved one.
