We welcomed our new postgraduate scholars to the University of Essex with a special reception at Wivenhoe House hotel
The Central Clinical School (CCS) is co-located with The Alfred hospital and is a centre for clinical and biomedical research and education, offering undergraduate and postgraduate study programs. CCS is a core hub for translational research and medicine, covering a great breadth of subject areas. CCS's research is highly collaborative, and the School is an integral part of the Alfred Medical Research and Education Precinct (AMREP), where world leaders partner in biomedical and clinical research. With such close links to health care providers we are able to rapidly move towards health outcomes in improved patient care.

9. Postgraduate prospectus (1985). Chosen by David Farrow, Director of Marketing, Strategy and Communications.
In 1985 Aston entered a new virtual world with the postgraduate prospectus. Gone were cover pictures of worthy students and tall buildings; in came a prospectus inspired by neon, Atari gaming and Jean Michel Jarre. Aston overnight appeared edgy. Open the printed document and the impression soon fades. The message “We intend to play a vital role in the regeneration of British Industry” linked to the heritage of Aston, but today feels Wilsonian in the era of Mrs Thatcher. A Masters degree was costed precisely at £1,569; 66 “married students” were accommodated in Handsworth, while the Guild offered delights including the Magic Bus, Hare Krishna Vegetarian Club and the Ulster Unionist Society. However, Aston Street buzzed with a travel agent, two banks and a delicatessen selling “exotic foods”, so liveliness was not just the preserve of the prospectus design team.
