A female mountain bluebird gives me an inquisitive look. Possible she was seeing a reflection in the lens or thinking that long lens hood would make a great nest site.
This young lady seemed to like my car quite a bit too, checking out various parts: side mirrors, grill, hood, tail pipe, wheel wells, roof, and probably other parts I didn't notice her looking over.
[Chorus]
When your dreams come alive you're unstoppable
Take the shot, chase the sun, find the beautiful
We will glow in the dark turning dust to gold
And we'll dream it possible
Left for the pond a couple of hours ago. A bit windy, but a comfortable 76°. I saw this one damselfly, and only one. I can't be sure because I got this one close up, and have nothing to compare it to (and I'm out of practice after the smoky season shutdown). It's a bluet, and that's as far as I'm willing to go. Meanwhile, after an hour. it was getting warmer, and I decided to head home. It was 101° when I "hit" the front door. Just made it.
Here are another picture of the very nice cascades near Soubey (Jura, Switzerland). With all the snow melting above, in the Franches-Montagnes, it was a real flood.
As you can see on this shot, the framing is rather unperfect : the left side is kind of messy and blurry, there's this perspective in the upper right corner that could have been intensified. Moreover, it's not totally at horizon level : all I had to do was to go a little lower with the tripod rotate the camera. That was my first plan.
The problem was : I wore shitty shoes and I stood upon a slippery rock covered with moss. What had to happen happened : I slipped, the tripod slipped and my 100D fall directly in the water in a very nice "sloosh".
Fortunately, it remained in the water less than 5 seconds and the screen was still showing this picture when I removed the battery. It is now in a kilogramme of long grain USA parboiled rice, and will stay there until tomorrow evening. I hope it will manage to dry it completely. I have some hope to save it ...
However, saving the lens would probably be a miracle, but I try anyway with the same trick ... Now I just have to wait, pray and see ...
So I am happy to show you this very last shot of my (maybe) dead buddy. I hope I did not became a photographer without a camera ...

This picture was explored on the 2nd of March 2016 ! Thank you really much for your kind messages !
And now : the end of the story : I tried the camera this morning. The body seem to work perfectly fine. The lens AF and stabilizer work as well, but there's some dirt on the lenses inside, so I'll probably have to make it clean. Then, it's always possible to have some rust on electronic components. I'll see in the future.
So the rice trick works, but I definitely think that what saved my camera is the fact that I removed the battery very quickly. What you don't want is some short-circuits on electronic components that heat and burn after a few seconds (they are small, so it can happen really fast). Without electrical power, much less risk to get damages.
Thank you anyway for your support !
i savor the fleeting moments when sun lights up the grass; when the world awakens; when anything is possible.

A new location to me that I wanted to check out. Amazing views from there, looking over Epsom golf course to the city, which is 15 miles away. I tried lots of different spots to get the skyscrapers in Vauxhall on the left in properly but just not possible with the positioning of the trees.
A simple two shot focus stack, one for the golf course and one for the city. Deliberately wanted to leave the foreground trees left and right slightly soft to give more of a draw into the city.
Thanks very much for viewing. Have a great weekend!
Pulhapanzak waterfall, Honduras, taken under very challenging light and with water drops falling on the lens every now and then, best to visit in cloudy weather, but there won't be a rainbow in that case, anyway I visited on a weekday and had the whole place to myself, easily accessible by car though the road is a dusty pothole ridden mess for the last part.
Happy weekend to everyone.
Even the lid of my septic tank looked interesting this morning. Amusingly when you open your eyes to possible images there's always a pleasant surprise. If you wander around the image you still can see the Safety Screws 🤔.

Possible source for the original sword in the stone story...the noble knight Galgano Guidotti renounced his warlike calling and wealth and resolved to live the life of poverty and prayer in the wilderness. I has been said that he had no Crucifix for his devotions so he thrust his sword in to the rock as a cross. I tried to depict my mother as accurately as possible. This is the time when she met my father. I adore her big round and gentle eyes, with which she looks at my father and her faint smile. The photographer is my father.

Possible geometries for an impossible daily life
Collection: The poetry of invisible movements: It is inevitable, points of conflict, lines of organization and insurrection, invisibility. Time passes... over. A look, a step, a gesture, the lines of the city or any detail, completed by the look, creating a poetics in the movements that only exist in the encounter between bodies, photographer, place, people photographed and who sees the photo, and this can generate a power of presence, a static dance.

What day and all I have to do is sit by my window! So lucky to be here. The kitten was oblivious to me and intent on the birds using the feeders, even when I went out and stood behind it. No-one in this area has cats but there are wild cats around (allegedly), the kitten could be a hybrid.

This photo might not look "post-processed to the max" but it is.
Why and how?
This is a small portion of a photo I made of a much larger scene.
I blew up and sharpened the tiny crop with my new AI software toy *
I wanted you all to be able to see more closely THE PEOPLE
taking a magical April walk in this glorious field of rape-seed oil plants.
* This image is a tiny portion of a photo taken in April 2013.
Back then, it would not have been possible to heavily crop an image
made with an iPhone 4S😵💫 to produce a high resolution blow up like this.
Now, with Topaz Gigapixel AI, I could crop and blow it up to the max!

A handheld shot. Normal wise I hate falling lines, but here it was not possible to show the scenery without falling lines.
So every comment and criticism is very much appreciated.

This is a strange one! The tree is very large and tall but the flowers all hang from stems 10 feet or so from the ground so it feels like they are growing on a vine attached to the tree rather than the tree itself! These are called cauliflorous... flowers that grow from the trunk.
In the rainforests of South American, fruits of the Cannonball tree sway and clash in the wind, creating loud noises like artillery fire! These fruits really do resemble big, rusty cannonballs as they hang in clusters on the side of the tree attached to rope like tangles that emerge directly from the trunk.
The Cannonball tree’s beautifully complex and fragrant flowers resemble huge orchids. At night the flowers become particularly pungent in order to attract swift-flying pollinators. This particular Cannonball tree was collected in 1913 at Jamaica’s Hope Gardens and has flourished at Fairchild since it was planted here in 1938."
Couroupita guianensis, whose common names include Ayahuma and the Cannonball Tree, is an evergreen tree allied to the Brazil Nut (Bertholletia excelsa), and is native to tropical northern South America and to the southern Caribbean. In India it has been growing for the past two or three thousand years at least, as attested by textual records; hence it is possible that it is native to India also. It's part of the family Lecythidaceae and grows up to 25m (82ft) in height. The "Cannonball Tree" is so called because of its brown cannon-ball-like fruits. The majority of these trees outside their natural environment have been planted as a botanical curiosity, as they grow very large, distinctive flowers. Its flowers are orange, scarlet and pink in color, and form large bunches measuring up to 3m in length. They produce large spherical and woody fruits ranging from 15 to 24cm in diameter, containing up to 200 or 300 seeds apiece.

This boat is a "must" to be photographied if you go for a Sunrise at Delta de l'Ebre. Usually the water is very calm because it's located in a closed bay, and the colours of the sunrise (specially in winter) are amazing.
The photo has just some basic contrast/saturation and light tones adjustments. The photo has been taken with a big stopper and a 1.2 ND filter.
Before exploring Lüderitz and Kolmanskop, we drove all the way south to the second largest canyon in the world: Fishriver Canyon. I didn't even know about this canyon before this trip, and since we still had a few days left after our initial rough planning, we both agreed to go there. We looked at the possible accommodations and found a government-run campground on the south side and a lodge on the north rim. As we hadn't read the best things about government-run campsites and were planning to camp most of the time anyway, we opted for the lodge and didn't regret it.
The drive there changed from paved roads to gravel roads, which had some sandy sections the further we got. At one point, we had to drive up a small hill and back down a steeper section that led to a narrow gravel road that crossed a dried up river a few times. We drove on and on, wondering if we were still on the right 'road', but a glance at the offline GPS map showed that we were heading in the right direction. After driving through some really impressive wide open landscapes, we crossed an “airfield” (which was basically a flat gravel field) before finally reaching the parking lot of Fishriver Lodge after a little over 3 hours of driving. As we entered the main building, we noticed the really beautiful glass façade which gave a breathtaking view of the canyon as the lodge is situated right on the canyon rim. We were then asked onto the terrace where we were given a welcome drink, enjoyed the view and thought about using the pool, but we both felt it wasn't quite warm enough (as it was winter there, the temperatures were moderate).
We then checked in, got the keys to our cabin right next to the rim and carried all our stuff from the car to our room (which was quite funny as we had all our stuff in cardboard boxes covered with plastic bags to protect it a bit from the sand that got into the back of our car during the drive, unlike all the other guests who arrived in fancy clothes and with normal suitcases). We then made ourselves a coffee and enjoyed it on our terrace while taking in the stunning views. I then wandered around the area a bit looking for possible sunset compositions, but as the sun got lower, I realized that its angle was far from optimal as the sidelight left most of the canyon in shadow and only illuminated a small upper portion.
At a certain point, I noticed that the colors on the side facing away from the canyon began to explode. I quickly ran to our cabin and told my girlfriend to get her camera. In the rush, we even forgot our tripods, ran around like headless chickens (as Mads Peter Iversen would put it) looking for compositions and found this lone quiver tree. The colors became more and more intense, and I can tell you: I have never seen colors like these before. Apart from one cloud that I cloned out as it was right behind the tree, I didn't edit this image at all (which is quite rare as raw files are usually very flat and require some contrast adjustments). The show went on for quite a long time as there were no mountains in the distance that could block the sunlight, but eventually we went to dinner and enjoyed one of the best meals we had on this trip. After dinner, we went back to our room and realized that the curtains were different than when we left. We thought that someone might have broken into our room, but when we went to bed we realized that the staff had brought warm water bottles as it can get chilly at night (which they hadn't told us). With that, we ended our day and couldn't be happier as we stood right on the edge of the second largest canyon in the world and witnessed one of the most colorful sunsets we had ever seen. I hope you like it!
One from yesterdays surreal red dusk. This is OOC no added colour! Ive not been posting my images despite being out as often as possible. Seems i need new software as even without any editing when i export the files they dont look quite right when zoomed in. Please excuse the flaws.. Hope everyone had a good weekend :)

Another picture of the supercell over Aduard on 5 June, 2015. Unfortunately the quality of the photograph is subpar due to the variations in lighting levels along the length of the panorama.
Clearly visible is a mesocyclone in the form of a rotating wall cloud in the centre, which minutes previously had been much more prominent and, according to reports, reached about 70% to the ground.
Also clearly visible is an inflow tail and an RFD to the right, as well as a general inflow cloud, here coming in from the north/the right side of the picture. You can also see what is possible a sattelite rotation here.

Whilst Andy was off flying the drone overhead I decided to do the opposite and go for a low shot getting as near as possible to the rockpools left behind by a low tide, in the hope of grabbing a reflection shot or two.
Anyway it's North Blyth (again!) and 66737 making it's first moves towards Fort William with the 6S45 of the 12th April 2025.

The San Rafael Swell a very scenic portion of central Utah, with mesas, cliffs, buttes, springs and beautiful canyons. The Swell is an oval shaped uplifted area of layered rocks, geologically termed an anticline. It is about a 75 by 40 mile area, most of which has been eroded away forming the mostly flat central plateau. The strata at the edges are left exposed and angled near vertically and make up the San Rafael Reef. This is where some amazing slot canyons are found,
Ranching has been and continues to be the only major use of the land. There are herds of wild horses and burros roaming the area, along with bighorn sheep, mule deer and mountain lions.
Most of the roads across the swell result from prospectors in the early to mid twentieth century, and these provided the only access until 1972, when the interstate was constructed, dividing the region in two.
Thiss image is the "Dark Horse Nebula" rising over the "Swell". The foreground was shot at 35 mm, ISO 1600 for 5 min. The night shot is also at 35 mm, 20 sec, ISO 6400, f2.8.
I did makr a mistake on this image. I forgot to apply the "500 rule" (exlained below). The stars are a little elongated due to the 20 sec exposure. I should have been at 14 sec or below.
The 500 rule for a full frame camera requires you to set your camera to ISO 3200 or 6400, Aperture to f/2.8 (or as wide as possible) and your shutter speed to 500 divided by the focal length of your camera. For example, if you are shooting with a 50mm lens, your shutter speed would be 10 seconds (500 / 50 = 10). This is due to the speed of the Earths rotation.
I made three copies of this picture and toned them in different ways.
They all turned out crap except maybe this one...
Toned it in selenium for 2 minutes and then in gold but I didn't think much happened, so I put it back in the selenium again, then it went quickly, had to pull it out after a few seconds when I saw what was happening. But the result might not have been that crazy.
The paper-white frame turned yellow-brown though, have to figure out how to get the white frame white again , if possible.

Posting images of slot canyons, especially from Antelope slot canyons, always gives me a lot of engagement on social media. So much that I consider them cheat posts. I suspect the dramatic changes in light and color grades create a visual impact even as thumbnails that they attract a large audience. This remarkable play of light and shadows, while impressive to behold, was challenging for me to master. When I first visited a slot canyon, I solely relied on HDR photography to capture the scene. While images looked good, it felt like something was missing. As I spent more time looking at slot canyon images, both mine and other talented artists, one thing became clear. It’s the shadows that make these images click. That’s why the HDR images looked ordinary, as they often by default lift the shadows. It also meant that I had to get it close in camera rather than relying on post-processing.
Here are a few strategies that helped me. First, Avoid the sky as much as possible in compositions as the light difference is too much to make sense in a slot canyon image. There are exceptions, but it is better to shoot the sky separately and blend it in later in those scenarios. Secondly, pick your bright areas carefully and balance them with the shadow areas. ETTR or exposing to the right is super helpful here, I often meter at the brightest spot in a scene and push setting until the highlights clip. A quick tip: You can usually push your raw images a little more than what your camera histogram suggests. And the last tip is to white balance correctly, have a grey card or a microfiber cleaning cloth with you, and get the correct white balance. Because the light is limited in a slot canyon, even the best cameras struggle to judge white balance correctly, and it’s hard to get it right in post-processing; at least, that’s my experience. On the other hand, the difference is extraordinary when you get the colors right in a slot canyon. And there it is, all my tips for shooting in a slot canyon.
March is the month when our parents Mariam Sagitova & Tadeush Dzevitskiy were born.
An engineer & a scientist were also lilac breeders and created more than 300 varieties of Syringa Vulgaris.
Twelve kinds of their lilac are listed in International Lilac Register.
I dedicate some space in my Flickr page to their memory and would like to show you some pictures of their creation.

Prior to the Vivid lights coming at 6pm, I walked up the hill from my work to this walkway over the Warringah Freeway. Used my zoom fish eye @ 15mm to fill in the foreground as much as possible.
Love doesn't only come in red, it comes in all colors. The calmness of blue, showing care through the serenity of the ocean and sky. The vivid green tones of the earth, showing us life that is not possible to flourish without love. Purple and pink hues of playfulness, youth and gentleness that is so precious and dangerous at the same time. The spirit of yellow, strong bonds, warmth of the sun and hope...because without love, there is no hope.
