More quickness and a bit of playing :)
This is my effort for a prompt at Kim Klassen's "The Studio Online - The Honey Tin". To this I've used the LR preset kk_gentle and tweaked it a bit. Then in PS added texture kk_teddy at a low softlight opacity, and tweaked. The fonts are Remington Noiseless and Windsong.
NASA's James Webb Space Telescope is aligned across all four of its science instruments, as seen in a previous engineering image showing the observatory's full field of view. Now, we take a closer look at that same image, focusing on Webb's coldest instrument: the Mid-Infrared Instrument, or MIRI.
The MIRI test image (at 7.7 microns) shows part of the Large Magellanic Cloud. This small satellite galaxy of the Milky Way provided a dense star field to test Webb’s performance.
Here, a close-up of the MIRI image is compared to a past image of the same target taken with NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope’s Infrared Array Camera (at 8.0 microns). The retired Spitzer telescope was one of NASA’s Great Observatories and the first to provide high-resolution images of the near- and mid-infrared universe. Webb, with its significantly larger primary mirror and improved detectors, will allow us to see the infrared sky with improved clarity, enabling even more discoveries.

Verbeke Foundation - Kemzeke Belgium
Founded by art collectors Geert Verbeke and Carla Verbeke-Lens, the Verbeke Foundation is a private art site which opened its doors to the general public in June 2007. As ‘a refuge’ for arts, the foundation holds an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art and also offers exciting possibilities for emerging as well as less renowned artists.
Culture, nature and ecology go hand in hand at the Verbeke Foundation. With 12 hectares of scenic area and 20,000 m² of covered space, the Foundation is one of the largest private initiatives for contemporary art throughout Europe. The warehouses of the former Verbeke transport agency were converted into unique exhibition halls. One of the buildings was furnished to exhibit the extraordinary collection of collages and assemblages. The Foundation is subject to ongoing growth and transformation processes. Artists have a possibility to reside, large and small exhibitions are held at the museum continuously. The Verbeke Foundation resembles a living organism and as such it looks different from one day to the next.
History
Geert and Carla Verbeke-Lens started collecting art in the early 1990s. Initially, they took an interest in abstract painting. Later, the focus of the collection shifted to collages and assemblages created mainly by Belgian artists. In recent years the collection has been further expanded to include contemporary art and bio art.
Collages & assemblages
An exceptional array of about 6000, particularly twentieth century, collages and assemblages lies at the heart of the private collection. A separate exhibition space has been specially designed to permanently display part of the collection.
Contemporary art
The Verbeke Foundation wishes to be a place where culture, nature and ecology are closely intertwined. Therefore, the works of bio-artists and artists working with living organisms (plants, animals) dovetail perfectly with the museum. Since the opening of the Verbeke Foundation in 2007, the collection has been expanded to include contemporary art works as well as installations which are predominantly constructed in situ.
Industrial heritage
Cranes are machines that combine form and function, or functional works of art. It is precisely when they are no longer in use that they reveal their beauty.
Michiel van Overbeek was inspired by this and turned it into a work of art. Biyelgee is a unique form of dance that originated from the nomadic way of life in Mongolia. Almost all regions populated by different ethnic groups in Mongolia have their own specific forms of Biyelgee.
In honour of the 15th anniversary of the Verbeke Foundation in 2017, Michiel van Overbeek created a choreography inspired by the Biyelgee for the cranes on the site. He made the cranes dance. Ro Krauss accompanied the dance with Mongolian overtone singing and played a Mongolian horsehead fiddle. The performance was staged three times to great public interest.
Bridges
In the north of Brussels, the transformation of a former industrial site into a residential area was completed around 2020. Special attention was paid to the history of the site. As much material as possible has been preserved or reused in the large courtyard garden. La Fonderie, a museum of industrial history in the Brussels region, has incorporated a number of artefacts. The free-standing rolling bridge, built by S.A. Ateliers de Construction de J.J. Gilain in Tienen, was too imposing to be integrated or incorporated into the museum. The most impressive remnant of the site’s industrial past was therefore donated to the Verbeke Foundation, where it serves as a gateway.
Anti Atom
The Swiss company Anti Atom built nuclear shelters in the 1980s. In a promotional brochure from that period, the Anti Atom shelter is touted as “the most liveable shelter”. During the Cold War, nuclear war was a real threat, and Anti Atom built the shelter with the aim of distributing them throughout Europe. As a fully-fledged demonstration model, this shelter travelled from Stockholm to Madrid. It can accommodate twenty people, who could survive in the shelter for about three weeks.
Since 2022, the shelter has been part of the Verbeke Foundation’s permanent collection. Behind the purchase lies a form of symbolism related to international current events.

Three Russian helicopters had been on Belgian territory for quite some time following the bankruptcy of the Belgian company Skytech, which had used them for freight transport and firefighting assignments, among other things. The MI-26T aircraft were built in the 1970s. With a length of 40 metres, a width of 8 metres, a height of 8 metres and a weight of more than 36 tonnes, they are the largest, heaviest and strongest helicopters ever built. In 2023, Geert Verbeke was able to purchase one of the helicopters.
Wind turbine
A wind turbine blade stands upright in the garden. It evokes memories of obelisks or memorials such as those found in various cities. Wind turbines provide clean energy, but they are not without controversy when it comes to material use, landscape pollution and noise pollution. This blade is 39 metres long, which is now considered small. During the 2018 exhibition “Groentopia”, an exhibition about green energy, the blade was displayed in the museum’s hallway. Karl Heinz Jeron’s (DE 1962) sound sculpture Wind Park Drone was also on display and could be heard alongside the blade. Jeron let people listen to the sound of wind turbines and investigated whether careful and active research could transform an initial aversion to the sound into a positive or at least neutral experience. Superuse Studios (Cesare Peeren), Zoro Feigl and Elmo Vermijs have each given their own vision of the wind turbine blade in their artworks.
Temporary exhibitions
Photos of Koen Deprez, architect and artist, takes you on his ‘Undetermined Journey’, accompanied by artist Sofia Speybrouck. A new book will be launched at the opening of the summer exhibition on Sunday 3 May.
Conny Groenewegen works at the intersection of fashion, art and technology and, through her project FAMA (Fashion Machine), draws attention to the way in which clothing is produced, consumed and discarded, and the representation of this in her installation ‘Poetry of Indifference’.
The tranquil Lake Maggiore from the shores of Baveno in Italy. First time in my life I was able to take in a lake sunset in the gorgeous country of Italy. And, I made sure to not miss one second of it. These waters are so calm and so many magnificent little islands to explore around them. Just realized I captured this on my birthday. Not a bad present at all.
No dreams or memories to share today. Instead I'm posting another nice example of Lensbaby Edge 80 optic. Using the tilt I've introduced just a little bit of blur on top this image, while keeping the human figure sharp. Now that I've learned to expect a certain possibilities with Edge 80, I'm starting to find regular 'straight lenses' a bit boring. Couple of days ago I had to use my kit lens (SEL1855) for some family pictures and while it felt almost too easy with AF and OSS, I felt something was missing. What I feel Lensbaby lenses bring to the table is an ability to play more with selective focus. This is mainly because of tilt, but manual focusing also adds something. I originally thought that being manual focus lenses these lenses would be hard to use. Well they are in some situations, I have to admit that, but manual focusing also expands your choices because by turning the focusing ring you will see different possibilities for selective focus - especially with the tilt. It's something you don't see when working with auto focus lenses. Not to mention the creative possibilities it introduces.

At this hour, those possibilities are still pretty good, although fewer than earlier in the day. Perhaps he is waiting to greet someone off the 19:07 service from Manchester Piccadilly, as I was? If so, it's fortunate he was there in good time because the train arrived three minutes early.

Between 1918 - 1922, Dutch designer and architect Gerrit Rietveld (1888 - 1964), well known by his famous Red Blue Chair, investigated the possibilities of bent metal for his furniture. Curves were no longer taboo.

I was told that I've been to Yosemite before. How old I was at the time is a different story. And considering that I have zero memories of the place, I must have been one tiny kiddo. So realistically, last June was my first visit to this beautiful place, and despite the crowds...it did not disappoint. Magical waterfalls and towering cliffs and soaring pines - what else could you need?
And you know what else is cool? Traveling with other photographers for once. My guides around Yosemite were two friends who had brought me down to California to photograph their wedding (the primary reason for the trip!), and were kind enough to take the time out of their busy wedding week to show me around the park. One is a fellow photographer, meaning he knew all the cool places, and when he spotted this shockingly symmetrical reflection of Yosemite Falls by the Swinging Bridge picnic area, I skipped along after him to see what he'd found. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? And photographer friendships are some of the most rewarding!
My subject is Parthenogenesis
Oscillating back and forth dramatically between arrogance and a guilty conscience, guilt is the hidden weakness inadequately masked by arrogance.
I am discovering the extent of my own vanity and my own insecurity.
Together they combine to form the nourishment for my obsession. They are just different aspects of the same thing. They are the complementary opposites which chemically unite to form a ‘love gasoline’. They are also manufactured by the disrobing Bride to create and satisfy her own needs. They meet and deny each other on the jaded plains of Onan. They combine not through acceptance of each other but blindly and desperately. They exhaustively pretend they have never met before, but their meeting is as constant as their inability to acknowledge each other. A confrontation is absolutely essential. To continue, insecurity must be sufficiently overcome (not ignored), to give the vanity of opinion free rein.
There is an exposition. I am not writing about Bachelor Machines. I am attempting to construct one.

Already these dictionary definitions begin to suggest hitherto unconsidered possibilities. There initially seems to be the germ of an idea which could perhaps be summed up as relentless and mindless solitary servitude. However as with every word combination the fecundity of this union goes far beyond what a mere joint definition might suggest.

By far not the best moon shot I've uploaded in my time but fitting for today, the day after The General Election here in the UK. No matter people's views about the outcome, the world keeps on turning as it always does, we move on .
The irony here though is that I spotted this through my kitchen window and had hoped to get the moon as it was dipping behind the trees but the phone in my pocket rang , it was my GP before her daily surgery ringing to give me advice over ( yet another ) drug reaction . One thing I do fear for in the light of the new government is for the future for our NHS which is already torn every which way.
the macromonday group's theme for today, 12/3, is balance. this one is probably my favorite of the ones i did for the theme, but i probably won't post it-- the blown out light is a distraction., even if i liked the sparkly gold bokeh ~grin~
I thought this was going to be one of those INSANE sunrises, how was I mistaken… Clouds were moving that fast that they cover the horizon, blocking what would have been some awesome colour!
Makes the sensational sunrises more special, as they don't come everyday! I think I'm due??

Starting a new notebook is as exciting for me as cracking open a new book to read. They both contain unknown possibilities, adventures, and new paths to explore.

"Knolling is the process of arranging similar objects in parallel or at 90 degree angles as a method of organisation. " I thought I'd revisit last Monday's "Macro Mondays" theme of knolling to see if I could improve on it. It would have looked Ok, I feel if the shell on bottom right hadn't had a mind of its own.

Stack of 127 pictures... Possibility to watch 2 Shooting Stars on the right part of the picture close to the "red and blue dot airplane trail",
Some others were visible on computer, but due to light pollution, very small trails.
............ of submission to the group Macro Monday, for the theme "Stone".
This pebble easily fits into a 1 inch square. As I looked at the image under magnification it occured to me that it could be mistaken for the surface of an alien planet, perhaps mars.
This won't come as a surprise to those of you who know me lol
