Isamu Noguchi designed Akari light sculptures from 1952-1986 and the artist FUTURA2000 hand painted the light designs in 2020. Noguchi created more than 200 models but with the possibilities of the various bases, shades and extension rods the variety is endless.

That is the reason when you open a small bracket to the rush of a flickering wave, life as already perceived is forever no more. No amount of absence can wipe out what is now recorded. A new space, a new possibility, a free form has been permitted and nothing can fend off the penetration of this truth. We now reshape our imagination.
HMM... the macromonday theme for today, 4/8, is circle. of the 150+ shots i did of various circles, this is probably the most dramatic, but i liked the napkin ring one the best. so no dithering today :)

The name Struthiomimus means "ostrich-mimic", because evolutionary convergence has produced an animal that shares many adaptive features in common with the ostrich and other large flightless birds.
Like the ostrich, these animals could run very fast indeed,
up to 50 kilometres per hour, according to some calculations.
Unlike the ostrich, Struthiomimus had long arms and hands with three fingers that ended in sharp claws, the morphology of the joints suggesting that the hands were held with the plam inwards.
The skull of Struthiomimus lacks teeth, but the jaws may have borne a sharp beak
like that of a modern tortoise or turtle. The bones of the skull are jointed, and the
two jaws moved independently, allowing the animal to manipulate food in the mouth.
There is still no agreement as to what Struthiomimus ate. The lack of teeth and
presence of gastroliths suggests a plant diet., whilst the hands with sharp claws
suggest either the possibility of catching, holding and shredding prey, or perhaps
the stripping of tender shoots and fruit from bushes and low trees.

Thanks for your visits, FF. I still have not had the opportunity to catch up, but as my mother always said, never say never.
I really like the principle of the picture within the picture, but I'm not really a specialist in it. I have the impression that I'm one of those street photographers who least recognise or take advantage of these possibilities. So when I came across this exhibition of street paintings in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, with subjects that fully represent the charms of the town, I didn't hesitate for a second before triggering my camera. A rather easy photo... But I was delighted!
With a hint of looking like deer antlers, I think this is Yellow Stagshorn fungus (Calocera viscosa). Alternative identification possibilities are welcome. Growing from fallen timber, there were several of these tiny fungi - note the size of the ivy leaf in the photo.

We thought we would camp here, but due to rains and previous occupants, we deemed it not a great spot after all. I would have liked to follow this stream to see what it had to offer. Maybe another time, when it's a bit drier.
"Northbound"
Due to all the wars and crises along the path from Japan to Europe, airlines had to reactivate the almost forgotten polar routes.
Flying over these remote areas poses special threats, like erratic compasses, extreme cold temperatures and being very far away from the next landing possibility in case of unexpected problems.
On the other hand, the route offers unusual views, like the Aurora Borealis I was able to record during my Swiss International Air Lines flight over the Bering-, the Chukchi-Sea and eastern Alaska.

Is actually a stitch of a few images, which I seem to have stitched twice and have ended up with two different results - one is closer to a panorama but features almost exactly the same elements. No idea how this happened as I don't remember stitching it twice! When I move into my new place I will probably give it a tone curve and upload the other version.
Edit* I went a long time, the past several years, without being on social media at all, but flickr I especially neglected. I'm sorry for that. I apologize for leaving so many comments unanswered. I appreciate all of the feedback greatly. I'm just getting back into the social media sphere, so I figure for flickr I'll start with the current version of this photo. Enjoy!
Also from our weekend on Stradbroke Island earlier this year. A friend and I walked out at low tide to this old rusty dredge called Hercules.
Hercules was built in Walker-on-Tyne by Sir William Armstrong, Whitworth and Co in 1900 for American Lindon Wallace Bates under contract to the Queensland Government for the development of the Brisbane Port at a cost of 70,000 pounds.
After construction, on its voyage from England to Brisbane, the Hercules performed experiments dredging the Suez Canal for three weeks and arrived in Brisbane on 17th April 1901.
After many years of dredging, the Hercules was put out of commission by 1917 as there was no more work in the Brisbane River that it could economically undertake. It was maintained for some years in readiness for service in case of disaster. However, newer technology meant this possibility was less likely.
In 1937 the Hercules was deemed to have outlived its useful life and was partially dismantled. In 1951 it was bought by Mr “Bonty” Dickson of Dunwich who had it towed there in 1952 to be used as a combined oyster factory and research station.
This is just a little bit about this shipwreck.
