Autumn is definitely my favorite season in Vancouver. That orange and red colors in the city are just amazingly beautiful. Whenever I talked to my parents, they always said they miss coming here during these times.
I find that many good spots are actually in the smaller streets and there are less crowds too. Throughout the past weeks or so, I have been driving around the city trying to find some great spots for photos. This one was shot with Sony 100-400GM. It was very useful especially doing a very tight shot. There were few people surrounding her while we were taking the shot so I decided to use this lens for a half-body shot. And this lens never fails to amaze me... :)

Getting a candid high key portrait proved more challenging than expected and a shower curtain hung up in my conservatory worked up to a point but left no room for anything other than her mummy standing at my shoulder waving toy till my great niece was totally perplexed but well.. her mum loved this shot anyway and has it printed large on her wall to this day. The toddler in the shot is fourteen years old now so this was definitely one of my first forays into portraiture....

I mostly shot very serious portraits. I had trouble experimenting. One day, I met 2 professional dancers and we wanted to collaborate all together. It was the second time I would have a photo shoot with 2 models, and those are still tricky to me as I’m not used to having more than one model. Turns out I got comfortable very quickly as they were very comfortable in front of the camera. I selected a background I really liked and decided to go for portraits. As I was changing my camera settings to suit the scene, Federica was having fun trying different poses and I ended up shooting this photo.
I love how the people I’ve met through my photographic journey helped me to be a better photographer, and I’m very thankful for that.
