This image has been shortlisted for Take A View Landscape photographer of the year competition.
I'm running a competition on my brand new website to find out which images are most popular. For anyone who is interested, select your favourite image from my site www.antonyspencer.com and enter the name of your favourite image on my blog at www.tonyspencer.wordpress.com for a chance to win your chosen image as a 3ft canvas ready to hang on your wall. The winner will be announced on the blog on the 3rd August.
Everyone is welcome to enter and I would love to know which images come out on top.
Thanks,
Tony
Got lucky last night at sunset capturing this massive wave just as the sun set behind Portland Bill Lighthouse.
Taken on the coastal path on the west side the Isle of Portland.
From Wikipedia:
Portland stone is a limestone geological formation dating to the Late Jurassic that is quarried on the Isle of Portland in Dorset, England.
The quarries are cut in beds of white-grey limestone separated by chert beds. It has been used extensively as a building stone throughout the British Isles, notably in major public buildings in London such as St Paul's Cathedral and Buckingham Palace. Portland stone is also exported to many countries, being used for example at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
Just got back from a stay in the New England States for a fall getaway. My wife has always wanted to visit Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine to do some "leaf peeping". :) We drove from Boston to Vermont (Vermont Country Store and Stowe) to Moosehead Lake in Maine and then over to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Kennebunkport, Salem and down the coastline back to Boston. Lots of driving, seafood (my first lobster roll) and fall colors. Here's my first image I downloaded.
This is the Portland Head Lighthouse in Portland, Maine.
